Attention: There is a prevalent email scam happening everywhere where the sender claims to have a password to a site and demands money in some form. Ignore it, do not respond and at most change passwords on any sites you frequent.

Effective immediately, moving or animated GIFs are not allowed in signatures. If your signature has one, please remove or replace it asap. Staff will remove them as and when we see them without notice.

Sincerest apologies to everyone for the recent blackout. VEF and several of our sister forums had a major server malfunction. The database index is being rebuilt from scratch and may take at least several days to be fully restored. Expect major weirdness and lots of glitches in the meantime. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Unfortunately it seems that all of the posts made from the 13th March until the crash are permanently lost, please feel free to re-post any such material, apologies for this.

Hey everyone, I’m sure this isn’t a new subject but I had to start somewhere being that I’m fairly new to this site. I’m having trouble with opening .rar files and then playing back the mp4. I used Winrar to extract the files, and tried to play the mp4 files on VLC Player on my PC. I end up getting multiple error messages. Previously I’ve used torrents and file converters to playback music or video files so I’m not completely in the dark about these things but I can’t figure this out. It’s definitely over my head. If anyone out there could help out I’d certainly appreciate it ! Could it be a codec problem ? Maybe my PC is too old ? No idea...
