This is my fourth. I'm hard pressed to think of a single programme that does function properly.
Fair enough, the software is generally not from microsoft, but then isn't that the problem?
To be fair Blondifan, video editing requires lots and lots of memory as well as disk space. I never used MS Movie Maker, but I did use Pinnacle Studio which itself was prone to crashes and lockups, and was very slow on rendering/burn. But here again I started using iMovie/iDVD on the Mac., and while it is not as easy to use with precision as the other software, it has never locked up or crashed, and was light years faster on rendering/ burn.

I celebrated getting rid of every one of them, so in my case that wasn't so bad. Probably wouldn't feel the same if I'd paid for them.
You don't say what they were replaced with!

Was looking at a new pc.

Any thoughts? Got a bonus coming later this month. Time to get rid of my old dell windows 7. Was looking at a mac but can't really justify spending that amount of money for what I want to use it for.

Consistently excellent and stable machines that run on Unix. Save some money by buying a certified refurbished machine from Apple directly from their website. Same warranty as a brand-new machine. Spend to get a big internal drive and a fast processor - adding more memory is simple and inexpensively done on your own.

Even a refurbished Mac you're still looking at near £1000 which is close to full retail price. Not really worth it really when all I'm going to do is browse the web basically.

If you don't get a Mac, well I'll ban ya from VEF
