It is interesting as far as oaths go. The officers oath does not have a mention of the POTUS but the enlisted one does.
Enlisted oath (a) Enlistment Oath.— Each person enlisting in an armed force shall take the following oath: "I, (state name of enlistee), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." |

The EU continues to be defined by their need for resources they do not have, unlike the Americas, yet arrogantly expects the US to continue to make good on its '56 promise after crossing them. At some point, especially when Germany doesn't even pay half of their required amount for defense, the US just has to walk away -- or at least threaten to do so. In any case, I wish we'd just pull back to the Americas. I think the EU knows that's coming within the next decade regardless of who is President, which is why they just voted to have an unified, standing, active military for the first time ever.

Mr Trump is very upset by the unfair press coverage and protesters taking to the streets. I seem to recall birthers claiming that Obama was not a U.S. citizen and others claiming he was a closet Muslim. Weren't there Tea Party demonstrations throughout the early years of Obama's first term? I distinctly recall Republican Congressmen vowing to obstruct Obama even if he proposed laws they agreed with. Not much fun when what goes around comes around.

Oh, I am not saying that we don't have criminals masquerading as protesters committing vandalism, or a bunch of silly b*tches who failed to get out the vote running around carrying signs, or that the press coverage is not grossly distorted, or that two freaking days is entirely too short a time to judge Trump's presidency. If I really wanted to be mean I could point out that the Republican Party has spent over 25 years being rabidly partisan and taking every opportunity to polarize the country. Many of found Mr Trump's campaign tactics divisive and repulsive, but in fairness he was not the only candidate running a negative campaign.
I am simply observing that the Republican Party and its allies behaved in a mean spirited and divisive way from the time Obama was elected (by 9.5 million votes, by the way.) The Republicans set the agenda and created the template for post election behavior. Donald Trump now has to live with the result. He would be much better served to quit trying to argue with the press and further bait the demonstrators and get busy trying to enact his agenda. The protests are larger because far more people in the country are left leaning. IMO they should have made sure that they got out the vote rather than hollering in the streets or rioting now. We are now seeing the results of dumbing down the schools. We have a whole bunch of folks running around who are totally incapable of rational thinking. Perhaps, you have missed my earlier commets. http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...postcount=2374 |

I've been wondering about the reactions of those people who either exercised their right to silence (if such a right exist), or were struck by apathy (you decide which) and did NOT bother to vote on the day. And now they're upset that Donald J Trump is the President of the USA (D'oh). FUN FACT: Projections from the United States Elections Project show that there were 231,556,622 Americans eligible to vote, but 138,884,643 voted for either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. That means that 40 percent didn’t vote, while 60 percent did. Therefore over 90 Million eligible American voters didn’t vote in the 2016 Presidential Election. The reason I posted the above is that all during Saturday I kept wishing the reporters had asked some of those marching in DC yesterday: BTW did you vote last year? I would have loved to hear the replies. One of my pet hates is when someone states their opposition to a political opinion - but does sweet Fanny Adams when it is time for he/she to vote, and YET they then bitch about the outcome afterwards (this has led me into a couple of arguments with "remoaners" who actually didn't vote over Brexit, BTW... )

Kanye West's mental health threatens bid to succeed President ...
Quote:
Apparently Kanye’s dreams of leading the US have been crushed after it was decided the impact of a gruelling presidential campaign would put his health at risk. Friends have urged the star to stick to rapping and not to venture into politics as it could put their family at an even greater risk. Details: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/showbiz/5...0-donald-trump So he won't be needing this then... But he is supposedly considering 2024 to help Donald Trump serve the maximum eight year term - I kid you not! Details http://www.itv.com/news/2016-12-13/k...-donald-trump/ Dear God PLEASE let this be fake news or Alternative facts (or whatever)....

Except in those 4 years he will have ruined the lives of many millions of Americans; including those of millions of people who mistakenly thought he would be helping them instead of the 1% that he is part of - along with many more millions outside of this country. He talked about clearing the 'Swamp' but instead he made it even wider and deeper with his selection of people for Cabinet and other positions.

Manufacturing is the largest part of the US economy.
us-manufacturing-output-has-doubled-in-three-decades The number of jobs in manufacturing has decreased, that is more due to automation than anything else. US Manufacturing output is surging. The problem with Trump's idea of bullying people into accepting trade deals that are lopsided towards the US: the conditions for that haven't existed since the 1970s. Before the 1980s the US was the world's manufacturer of nearly everything. Cars, boats, radios, buttons, zippers, you name it. The reason was simple- we took to the industrial revolution like no other nation on earth. Even Europe as a whole didn't produce as much as the US. We also had, for the time, a massive work force. There are now multiple manufacturing centers in the world aside from the US. China, is the most obvious, Japan and Korea are there as well, but without the sheer manpower of China. Indonesia is a huge up and comer, as is India. It's not a US centric manufacturing world and hasn't been for a long time. Trump doesn't get that. He can bully countries all he wants, but they have other places they can go. The companies that have moved manufacturing back to the US have done so because the cost of building heavily automated factories offsets the costs of Chinese labor and transportation costs. I can't remember the company, but they manufacture parts for heat pumps. They started in the US and moved manufacturing to China in the 90s. Their factory in the US employed around 6,000 people. In China, they employed 10,000. The factory they opened in the US a few years ago employs less than 1,000 and has three times the output of either of their former plants. He also doesn't understand the role of government in research. During his hearing, Rick Perry said they planned on eliminating funding for the DOE's research center. Over the last twelve years the department of energy's research center has contributed nearly 10 billion into the US economy for every billion spent on it. Further, 200 billion of the US GDP last year was a direct result of DOE research over that period. Don't get me started on his idiotic tax breaks to rebuild infrastructure plan. That's just an excuse to privatize roads and turn peoples commutes into one long toll road while sending more money to the 1%. |

Not anymore. I have come to believe that with approximately 18.5% of our population being immigrants or their children born here. we ought to consolidate. This means drastically reducing the number of immigrants for awhile. Unfortunately, we will still need to grant asylum to Afghans and Iraqi's who collaborated with us as they and their families will otherwise be killed. I had no idea of the numbers of unskilled, non-English speaking and illiterate people that have been let into the country.

The fact that Trump's cabinet has people who do not agree with some of his positions is a good sign to me. It implies he does not mind opposite views and will at least listen if not accept them. |
