I listening to local ABC radio here in Melbourne. Some guy from America, a DJ, was being interviewed. He said Australia was "A bit like California, a bit like England."

We finish the week with a Prime Minister who has lost his bundle and is making policy and political calls that go beyond reckless in an increasingly panicked and desperate attempt to save himself; a government that has not just utterly lost its way but its authority; and important policy debates left either as smouldering wrecks or unprosecuted.

At issue is not just whether Tony Abbott loses his leadership, or whether the budget bottom line deteriorates even further, but signs that our political system really is in deep trouble – not as a polemic point, but in a very real sense.

In his final months, the late former prime minister had no qualms about telling the world just what he thought about the nation's current leader.

Mr Fraser this year posted a series of angry messages to his Twitter account where he was scathing of Mr Abbott's administration.

In one message, critical of the government's treatment of Human Rights Commission president Gillian Triggs, Mr Fraser said the Prime Minister was 'behaving like a dictator'. He added: 'get rid (of) Abbott'.

Tony Abbott asked why he keeps saying 'stupid things'

"Mr Abbott, for a Rhodes scholar, how come you say so many stupid things? 'Lifestyle choices' has enraged Aboriginal community leaders, and yesterday, bringing Goebbels into the Parliament?" Faine put to the Prime Minister.

"I withdrew and I apologised and I did it straight away, there was no hesitation. I accept that in the context of history and the way things have developed that was an over-the-top remark and I straight away withdrew and apologised," Mr Abbott responded.

I watched 'the apology', which followed the most recent Nazi comment/Labor party comparison, without drawing a breath. He was laughing the whole time.

Recently I watched "the Age of Stupid" (2009)
The people who compiled all the news footage and research for the film called themselves "Team Stupid".
I have my own theory about who the real, localised "Team Stupid" is.

From what I've seen and heard, I love Australia. They're a freedom loving people. They also know how to have fun.

Just wish they didn't drive on the wrong side of the road, lol....

"They went to the home to remove the kids from their home, so they were given over to FACS. Is it an appropriate use of force for police in riot gear to go into homes and remove eight Indigenous children?"

"I think it’s perfectly appropriate to try to get the kids to school," he said.

"... we need to consider new measures to try to ensure that kids go to school."
