In the January/February 2020 issue of Penthouse, it was announced that the original materials had been located and that a restoration of the film to the original Gore Vidal script was underway by author and archivist Thomas Negovan and Shadow of the Vampire director E. Elias Merhige for a Fall 2020 limited theatrical release under the 40th anniversary title Caligula MMXX.

If I understood the page properly, it seems they are going to restore the version intended by Gore Vidal and Tinto Brass. So, we shouldn't expect to see more hardcore footage recovered. In fact, I think that this restoration may even mean that the porn additions by Guccione will be removed, because, as the website says, Penthouse informed that "original materials had been located and that a restoration of the film to the original Gore Vidal script was underway". And that script didn't include hardcore porn. So...

I think we can only hope that Penthouse will release the porn materia in another format (its website, maybe?). I cross fingers, because I find the porn scenes in this picture really hot (that blowjob is awesome).

They said that they have all 96 hours of negatives which were used to edit the film. That should include the hardcore, since it was edited into the film, so fingers crossed.

As of now, the only the evidence is for the Signe Burger - Henrietta Kelogg double bj. The scene cuts away with Signe sucking and Henrietta stroking the dick.
