New Trainer in Stuttgard!

Thomas Schneider

The successor for Bruno Labadia in Stuttgard is Thomas Schneider!

Stuttgard have announced that Thomas Schneider has taken over the vacant coaching job at the club following Bruno Labadia's sacking.
It was confirmed on Monday that the 47-year-old had been relieved of his duties following three straight Bundesliga losses at the start of the season.

And they have wasted no time in replacing him with Schneider, who had been working with the club's Under-17 team, winning the B-Junioren championship during his first season in charge.

He had enjoyed a lengthy career with the Swabian giants as a player, first joining a club as a 10-year-old in 1983 and representing the first team between 1991 and 2003, winning the Bundesliga with them in 1992 and the DFB Pokal in 1997.

However, the 40-year-old's only senior coaching role was with minnows Dingolfing.

"I'm really looking forward to the job at hand and I'm full of confidence," he told reporters at his unveiling.

Sporting director Fredi Bobic added: "I'm glad we have found a solution so quickly. I'm sure we are well positioned with the coaching staff. [This is] not an interim solution."

Meanwhile, Alfons Higl and Tomislav Maric have joined Schneider as members of his coaching staff.

Best regards

If he speaks like a Schwabe, almost no one in the world will understand him. Did he do a press conference?

European Supercup

Friday 30.08.2013

Bayern - Chealsea

Neuer targets Chealseas Revenge

Manuel Neuer says Bayern München are hungry for revenge ahead of their Uefa Super Cup clash with Chealsea

The Bavarians were beaten on penalties by the Blues in the 2012 Champions League final, before lifting the trophy after beating Dortmund back in May.

But the goalkeeper admits there is still a score to settle with the Premier League side and says he will be doing all he can to gain revenge.

He told Uefa.com: "It's a unique chance for us players to win this trophy. It's a final, and a match against the Europa League winners, and that's Chelsea. We still have something to clear with them, and take revenge, so hopefully we can win in Prague."

The 27-year-old then gave an insight into the pressure Bayern were under ahead of last season's Champions League final and admits the prospect of defeat at Wembley was unthinkable.

He added: "[Winning the Champions League] was very important. We would have had a very difficult time if we hadn't done it. Last season we were very motivated, we wanted to finally achieve a lot of success and managed to win the treble, but we could have never lost the final against Dortmund."

Pep Guardiola has since taken over from Jupp Heynckes as Bayern boss and guided the treble-winners to wins in all three of their opening Bundesliga matches, with the latest a 2-0 victory over Nurnberg.

And Neuer explained the differences between the former Barcelona boss and Heynckes, having got to know the Spaniard in recent months.

"He's certainly a totally different person to Jupp Heynckes," he said. "Jupp had a lot of experience from coaching many big clubs in Europe and he had a good feeling for different situations.

"We've not played under Pep for that long, but he's clearly an advocate of attractive football, just like Jupp."

Best regards

I wonder if this will be on TV

It will be interesting to see. Aren't Chelsea owned by a Russian super-thief, and Bayern controlled by a super-tax-evader?

Battle of the crooks!

FC Freiburg - Bayern 1:1

Live today in Freiburg!

An under-strength Bayern Munich drew 1-1 with Freiburg on Tuesday night as Pep Guardiola's 100% start to the Bundesliga season came to an end.

Xherdan Shaqiri put the visitors ahead after 32 minutes when he fired past Oliver Baumann in the Freiburg goal. But Bayern were pegged back five minutes from time when they conceded only their second goal of the season, as substitute Nicolas Hofler volleyed home from close range.

Guardiola made six changes to his side from the 2-0 win over Nurnberg ahead of Friday's Uefa Super Cup clash with Chelsea on Friday, with the likes of Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Mario Mandzukic all dropping to the bench.
The hosts were without the suspended Francis Coquelin, while Christian Gunter replaced Mensur Mudzja.
It was Freiburg who had the first goalscoring chance of the match when Julian Schuster's powerful strike forced a good save from Manuel Neuer after 11 minutes.
Soon after, Bayern’s Toni Kroos and Xherdan Shaqiri both stung the palms of Baumann during what was an entertaining opening period.
Guardiola’s much-changed side then began to control proceedings and were rewarded just after the half-hour mark when Shaqiri gave them the lead.
The Switzerland international controlled a Thomas Muller cross from the right, which evaded Oliver Sorg, and drove home past Baumann.
Despite dominating possession for the remainder of the half, the champions could not add to their slender lead before the break.
Shaqiri then almost doubled his tally for the game 10 minutes into the second period, forcing Baumann into a save with his feet, before Charles Laprevotte cut in from the left and hit the post with a curling effort for the home side.
With the game finely poised, Bayern should have doubled their lead when Kroos found himself clean through. However, the Germany international was thwarted one-on-one before the goalkeeper reacted well to deny Muller's follow up.
But, with just five minutes to go, the home side drew level, with substitute Hofler firing a left-foot volley past Neuer from close range.
Dante almost restored Bayern's lead three minutes later when he poked over from inside the six-yard box, but Guardiola was forced to settle for a share of the spoils for the first time this season.

Guardiola is really screwing around with this Bayern team. Bizarre team selections, and even more curious tactics where players are not being utilised in their best position. Freiburg are a tough side, but simply do not have the quality in their line up to justify a 1-1 draw.

Schalke O4

Schalke have announced the signing of Kevin-Prince Boateng from AC Milan.

General manager Horst Heldt confirmed on Friday that the Ghana international has signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga side.

Schalke have endured a rocky start to the 2013-14 season, and Heldt feels that the attacking midfielder can help get the Gelsenkirchen outfit back on the right path.

"He is a player with exceptional qualities and a great leader," Heldt told a press conference. "It was easy convincing the player to come – the challenge with the transfer came in convincing Milan to part with him.

"He will wear the No.9 jersey."

Meanwhile, coach Jens Keller, who has struggled to produce good results since pre-season, feels the addition of the 26-year-old will help propel his side in the right direction.

He continued: "He has a wealth of international experience which will greatly benefit our team."

Keller added that he is hopeful of using the former Borussia Dortmund attacker in his squad to face Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
