Angelica Marie Cecora is a 27 year old former Pl*yboy model who has also posed for other gentlemen's magazine such as M*xim .... this is not particularly noteworthy, and wouldn't bring her to much attention - just a very minor celebrity, and she certainly wouldn't make this thread, except where there is a little bit extra ....

In March 2011 she claimed she was having an affair with the married ex boxer, Oscar De La Hoya, and after dinner at New York's Ritz-Carlton Hotel they retired to a suite costing $4,500 a night, where apparently sexual activity took place. Now fast forward to November 2011 when Ms Cecora brought a $5m action against De La Hoya claiming emotional distress and imprisonment, assault and battery.

She claimed in court that after consensual sex, Mr De La Hoya, put on Ms Cecora’s underwear and ordered $200 worth of drugs - he then allegedly requested 'an extreme sex act' (not elaborated on in court - but some reports state it involved rectally-administered cocaine), which she apparently obliged him with. He then also requested that asked Ms Cecora's flat mate come over with sex toys and the ladies put on a show for him.

Apparently this was all pretty normal stuff, because she only objected to Mr De La Hoya's activities after she and her roomie went to sleep, and the ex-boxer pulled her out of bed three more times for more sex. She claimed that she “was afraid to leave the hotel room because she feared that the defendant would attempt to have sex with her against her will.”

She then said that when she was finally able to leave, she discovered De La Hoya hadn’t paid the hotel bill ,and that later the boxer tried to buy her silence for $6,000.

The defence team counter attacked with a devastating blow saying that she was in fact a “grifter” and 'hooker' who worked under the name 'Taylor' and described herself on an adult web site as “All American Blonde.” The suggested “donation” for an “overnight” was $2,000.

In April 2012 the Judge dismissed all her claims - his summing up stated that "She never claims that he threatened her with force. Her claim that she was ‘afraid to leave the hotel room because she feared that the defendant would attempt to have sex with her again against her will’ is belied by her voluntary conduct from evening through the following morning. Her allegations are completely without merit in law and were undertaken primarily to harass or maliciously injure””

He finished off by ordering that she pay the retired pugilist’s legal bills (around $20,000) and that both she and her legal weasel also paid a $500 fine each, for filing a “frivolous” lawsuit. They both vowed to appeal but the story died after that ...

• De La Hoya (known as 'Golden boy'), of Los Angeles, California, won the Barcelona 1992 Olympic gold medallist and is worth $175million , he generated $700million in pay-per-view TV revenue during his career in which he defeated 17 world champions and winning 10 world titles in six different weights and retired in 2009.
• This was the second time De La Hoya has been accused of wearing women’s underwear. The first woman to do so, Siberian beauty Milana Dravnel, was rumoured to have been paid $20million to go away in 2008 after mshe sued for defamation.
• De La Hoya has since admitted a cocaine addiction and also confirmed that photos of him from 2007 dressed in fishnets and lingerie were authentic.

Brittany Guidry, is a 21-year-old residing in Houma, Louisiana, and she graduated Vandebilt Catholic High School in 2011. Shortly after graduating she moved to Lafayette to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where majored in Public Relations but took time out to compete on the beauty circuit. She apparently plans on returning to school to finish her degree in the future.

She started on the Pageant Queen circuit some years ago, finishing 4th runner-up in Miss Teen USA in 2009, and who is the current Miss Louisiana 2014. She failed in her attempt at the top crown of Miss USA 2014, finishing 3rd Runner-Up. She apparently plans to work closely with the USO, Wounded Warrior Project, and several other organizations throughout her reign as Miss Louisiana USA.

She has managed to elevate her minor fame a tiny notch, by recently publicly criticising the Obama Administration for the 'Bergdahl Swap' .... yes you heard right, Miss Louisiana apparently disagrees with the Obama administration’s trading of five Taliban prisoners for American prisoner of war Bowe Bergdahl. This announcement was made at the notoriously non political Miss USA pageant in June 2014, when she slammed the Obama administration for the deal.

“I am glad that we got our guy back. However, I do not feel it is right that we subject ourselves to these acts of terrorism. I do agree with our guy being back, but, however, I do not think we should subject ourselves. Thank you.”

Now apart from the fact that its very unusual for any of these contestants to ever make any sort of comment on anything, except at the most banal level .... it is fairly obvious from this statement as to why they don't ... needless to say she became the subject of much mocking comment on the web and news reports for her incomprehensible language usage and in depth analysis of international anti-terrorism.

Valerie Domínguez Tarud was born in Barranquilla in Colombia to a Lebanese descent, wealthy family, and as well as completing her education in Columbia, also studied fashion design in Milan, Italy. However she still took the traditional route to celebdom, and entered the Miss Colombia beauty contest in 2005 which she won. She then represented Colombia at the Miss Universe 2006 and finished in the Top 10.

She opened a jewellery store in Barranquilla, which exhibits her designs and planned to open another store in Bogotá. All this was enough to get her a TV career (isn't it always?), made her debut as Marianne Sajir in "Hasta que la plata nos separe" . She also entered the Colombian film industry, in the role of 'Manuela' for the film called, "Esto huele mal" .... She continued to star in Columbian TV in a telenovela called Un 'sueño llamado salsa' (A dream called salsa), until ....

She was dating a gentleman called Juan Manuel Davila, and this led to her being arrested in April 2011 and charged with embezzlement and fraud .... In particular she was accused of applying for and receiving state subsidies of $173,000 from the government bureau for farming AIS, this despite her having no connection to agriculture or a farm.

However she was acquitted in court, when the judge ruled that a series of emails between her and Davila were essential in showing that she had nothing to do with the irregularity ... (the boyfriend and his family all got sentenced to 20-months under house arrest and or large fines).

She has not ruled out selling the television production rights to a show that would dramatize her ordeal in court ... in the meantime she has resumed her career in Mexico, and will star in Mexican comedy “The Clinic”.

But it was not over yet ... the prosecution believed that she is guilty, and Martin Moreno, the prosecutor in charge for AIS, went to the High Court in Bogota to appeal the decision insisting that the ex-beauty queen knew the AIS grant process and its intended destination. In January 2013 she went on trial again ... with the prosecution trying to convince the court that her $163,000 tax-free sum was claimed for a non existent “irrigation and drainage” project.

As far as I can tell, she was eventually acquitted ... unless someone knows better.

Vanessa L. Williams was born in Millwood, New York, USA to music teacher parents. She studied music at home until she graduated in 1981 from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, New York. She received a scholarship and attended Syracuse University as a Musical Theatre Arts major from 1981 to 1983. However as is usually the way with the ladies on this thread, she interrupted her education at Syracuse during her sophomore year to enter the 'Miss America' contest.

The route to celebdom ran like this .... She competed in the Miss Syracuse (University) beauty pageant in 1983. After winning the Miss Syracuse title, she won the Miss New York crown in 1983, and went to compete for the Miss America title at the national pageant in Atlantic City, which she duly won in 1984.

This was the stepping stone to her career .... with her first television appearance on a 1984 episode of The Love Boat, playing herself and she went on to make guest appearances on a number of shows including 'T.J. Hooker', 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air', 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine', 'Ally McBeal' and 'Boomtown'. She then went on have repeating roles in a number of TV shows of which perhaps the best known was her comic/villainess role as former model/magazine creative director turned editor-in-chief 'Wilhelmina Slater' in the comedy series 'Ugly Betty' for which she received a nomination for outstanding supporting actress at the 59th Primetime 'Emmy' Awards.

She also returned to music and she released her debut record album, 'The Right Stuff' in 1988 with her third single, "Dreamin'", a pop hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 8, and her first number one single on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The album reached gold status in the U.S. and earned her a NAACP Image Award and three Grammy Award nominations, including one for Best New Artist ....

Finally she entered mainstream theatre when she was cast in the Broadway production of 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' in 1994 and other stage work followed. She has also done considerable modelling work. She has been married twice with four children.

Of course all this wasn't accomplished without some moments of 'oops' and controversy ....

Ten months into her reign as Miss America, she received an anonymous phone call stating that nude photos of her taken before her pageant days had surfaced .... they were black-and-white photos dated back to 1982 when she was aged 19. She said that she had thought they had been destroyed. P*nthouse magazine, announced that they would publish the photos in their September 1984 15th anniversary issue which featured a cover featured a photograph of a Ms Williams with 88-year-old George Burns, and the headline, 'Miss America, Oh, God, She's Nude!'. Any thread regular will know that nudity is a 'No No' in the pageant world, so after days of media frenzy and sponsors threatening to pull out of the upcoming 1985 pageant, Williams felt pressured by Miss America Pageant officials to resign, and did so in a press conference on July 23, 1984. Williams filed a $500 million lawsuit against the photographer and P*nthouse but she eventually dropped the suit a year later, explaining that she wanted to put the scandal behind her and move on.

Williams and her mother, Helen, co-authored a memoir entitled 'You Have No Idea', published in April 2012 ~ This contained the fact that she was sexually molested by a woman when she was 10 years old and that she had an abortion as a teenager (This despite being a strong and practising Roman Catholic).

During an interview with Barbara Walters on February 24, 2008, Williams not only admitted to using Botox but also called it "a miracle drug, no cutting, nothing, and I love it. But I also want to act so I don't do it to freeze my face"

• Millwood is a predominantly white middle-class suburban area of New York City.
• Her younger brother Chris Williams is also an actor.
• Prophetically, her parents put on her birth announcement: "Here she is: Miss America."
• Twenty-five years after leaving university, she graduated from Syracuse by earning her remaining college credits through her 'life experience' i.e. they gave her the degree.
• The September 1984 15th anniversary issue of P*nthouse included the underage photos of Traci Lord and earned Bob Guccione a $14 million windfall.
• Although she resigned from fulfilling the duties of a current Miss America, Williams was allowed to keep the jewelled crown and the scholarship money and is officially recognized by the Miss America Organization as "Miss America 1984"; Charles is recognized as "Miss America 1984-b". ~ they were both also the first black Miss America's.

I have been a bit remiss in my posting recently ... like many, I am time poor these days .... While thanks are nice please remember the posting rules on this thread lads Anyways here's a quick one, and one more bigger one to be posted over the weekend.

Gemma Reilly is a Limerick girl, who like many here has the celeb bug .... so the usual route was chosen and she entered in to the beauty queen and modelling circuit in her native Ireland. In 2010 she entered and was crowned Miss Limerick in 2010 but her luck and chance at the big time ended when she was beaten by model Rosanna Purcell, to the Miss Universe Ireland title in 2010.

She still lives in her native city and as of March 2014 she declared that she was between jobs after just finishing up work as a receptionist at the Adare Manor hotel in Co Limerick. She said that she works “in retail.”

In march 2014, she was driving along on the Ennis to Gort motorway , minding her own business so to speak when she was clocked by the irish police 'the Garda' as driving her mother’s 12 registered Mercedes 220 at 187kph on the motorway in a 120 kph zone near Srangalloon, Crusheen, Co Clare.

At Ennis District Court in October the case finally came before a judge ... he asked Ms Reilly – who didn’t have any legal representation in court - to get into the witness box and explain why she was speeding. She informed the judge that her orthodontist is based in Galway “and I was extremely late for an appointment. I was driving my mother’s car and didn’t realise how fast I was going”.

The judge, who frankly seems to have been much taken with Ms Reilly, asked Ms Reilly “why shouldn’t I disqualify you from holding a driver’s licence with the speed you travelling at?” and in response Ms Reilly said: “I’m usually very diligent. I drive a 1.4 Golf myself. I have never been speeding before. This was my mother’s car, it wasn’t my own and I had a friend in the car with me.” .... she also promised the Judge that that she will never speed again.

In his ruling, Judge Durcan fined Ms Reilly €500 for the speeding offence and informed Ms Reilly that “I am not disqualifying you from holding a driver’s licence because you have been absolutely honest in how you have dealt with the matter and I want to commend you on that. I must penalise you by virtue of the speed you were travelling at. If I had detected any element of dishonesty in your evidence I would have disqualified you, but I must say I found your honesty refreshing. Thank you very much.”

Others were also struck by the judges behaviour .... Former Irish road safety chief and TV presenter Gay Byrne, criticised the decision not to impose a driving ban on the former beauty queen, who had admitted speeding at 187kmph (116mph) on a motorway. He said that said he was "outraged" by the ruling which "sends the wrong message" on road safety. "She was doing an outrageous speed. And she was outrageously lucky in the treatment she received from the judge."

A day late, but here's the bigger post I promised ....

Clara Bow was born in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, New York at 697 Bergen Street but between 1905 and 1923, the family lived at 14 different addresses mostly in Prospect Heights. At sixteen, Clara's mother Sarah fell from a second-story window and suffered a severe head injury and was diagnosed with "psychosis due to epilepsy". ... this left her needing help. "As a kid I took care of my mother, she didn't take care of me", Bow later said. Matters worsened until in February 1922, Bow awoke to a butcher knife held against her throat. She fought off the attack and locked her mother up until the morning, but her mother was later committed to a sanatorium by Bow's father, where she remained until in 1923, at the age of 43, she died from her epilepsy.

Bow had been bullied at school over her 'carrot top hair' and worn out clothing, she often went hungry due to the families poverty she found consolation in the movies. Aged 16 and as determined as only poverty can make you, Bow competed in 'Brewster publications' magazine's annual nationwide acting contest; "Fame and Fortune", in 1921. She won an evening gown and a silver trophy and the publisher committed to help her "gain a role in films", but no contract emerged. She just sat in their offices day after day until introduced to a film director who cast her in five scenes (all of which she claimed were later cut, although she was still credited) ... she was then forced to get an office job.

But in 1922, director Elmer Clifton needed a tomboy for his movie 'Down to the Sea in Ships' and she was cast at $50 pw (after a Brewster sub editor urged him to give her a chance). She took her chance and in December 1923, Bow was chosen the most successful of the '1924 WAMPAS Baby Stars'. Her career was also inadvertently boosted, when in 1923 she befriended the later very powerful critic Louella Parsons, who had interviewed her for 'The New York Morning Telegraph'. By now she had her first boyfriend, a cameraman, but she left both him and his father in New York to go to Hollywood.

She soon rose to be big box office in the silent era with Paramount Pictures, and with the advent of the "talkies", Bow kept her position as the top box-office draw, and one of the queens of Hollywood. In 1931 she still held the position as fifth biggest draw at box-office. But that was the last highlight ... her manager B.P. Schulberg began referring to her as "Crisis-a-day-Clara". In April that year, Bow was taken to a sanatorium, and at her request, Paramount released her from her final undertaking: 'City Streets'.

So at the tender age of 25, her Paramount career was essentially over .... Bow left Hollywood for actor 'Rex Bell's' dude ranch in Nevada, her "desert paradise", in June she married Mr Bell in then small Nevada town of Las Vegas. She recovered her mental health somewhat, and in 1932, Bow signed a two-picture deal with Fox Film Corporation ("we could use a little money") ... two successful films and that was that and she retired from acting in 1933 with 58 film credits.

She had two sons with Bell who in 1944 ran for U.S. House of Representatives, they split up when Bow went in to hospital in 1949 and discharged herself but refused to return to her family. She lived as a recluse after that, and she died of a heart attack on September 27, 1965 at the age of 60, with an estate worth about $500,000. An autopsy showed she had scars from an earlier undisclosed heart attack.

"My life in Hollywood contained plenty of uproar. I'm sorry for a lot of it but not awfully sorry. I never did anything to hurt anyone else. I made a place for myself on the screen and you can't do that by being Mrs. Alcott's idea of a Little Woman."

Started life with a little lie ..... Her year of birth, according to the US Census of 1910 and 1920 was given as 1905. However in the Census of 1930 Bow claims she was born in 1906. And finally, she had a final tweak on her gravestone of 1965, where the inscription says 1907

Desperate for work, and three months before 'Down to the Sea in Ships' was released, Bow danced half nude, on a table, un-credited in the 1923 movie 'Enemies of Women'. She also, according to popular legend (and like a lot of actresses at the time), allegedly posed nude and these pictures have circulated ever since ...

By October 1929, Bow described her nerves as "all shot," saying that she had reached "the breaking point," and 'Photoplay' cited reports of "rows of bottles of sedatives" by her bed.

In 1931 she had a damaging court trial after charging her secretary Daisy DeVoe (aka deBoe), with financial mismanagement. Daisy told the court and press uncensored details of Clara's sex life (along with lots of exaggeration, although some must have been true ~ see memoirs below), which the press automatically printed and believed. The scandal ruined Clara's career.

In 1931 when Bow came under tabloid scrutiny, Luella Parsons defended her reputation publically. Bow had been the subject of wild rumors regarding her sex life; most of them were believed to be untrue. A tabloid called 'The Coast Reporter' published lurid allegations about her in 1931, accusing her of exhibitionism, incest, lesbianism, bestiality, drug addiction, alcoholism, and having contracted venereal disease. The publisher of the tabloid then tried to blackmail Bow, offering to cease printing the stories for $25,000, which led to his arrest by federal agents and, later, an eight-year prison sentence.

In 1944, while her husband was running for the U.S. House of Representatives, Bow tried to commit suicide. A note was found in which Bow stated she preferred death to a public life ...

In 1949 she checked in to The Institute of Living to be treated for her chronic insomnia and diffuse abdominal pains ... after a battery of checks she left the Institute. Bow did not return to her family. After leaving the institution, Bow lived alone in a bungalow, which she rarely left, until her death. She refused to write her memoirs on the grounds there were many things that might embarrass her two sons and their families. She felt all the money in the world would not compensate for the embarrassment it would cause her family.

Trivia:

• Bow was very close to her father who despite (or perhaps because of) his feckless ways ~ he was out of work or out of the marriage a lot ~ she defended him. "He had a quick, keen mind ... all the natural qualifications to make something of himself, but didn't...everything seemed to go wrong for him, poor darling". and "I do not think my mother ever loved my father. He knew it. And it made him very unhappy, for he worshiped her, always."
• After her mothers death, when relatives gathered for the funeral, Bow accused them of being "hypocrites" and became so angry that she even tried to jump into the grave.
• Something of an athlete (and planning a career in physical education), she won five running medals "at the cinder tracks".
• Her cousin Homer Baker was the US national half-mile champion (1913 and 1914), and 660 yards world-record holder ~ he acted as her track trainer.
• In June 1925, Bow was credited for being the first to wear hand-painted legs in public, and was reported to have many followers at the Californian beaches.
• Her husband actor Rex Bell was later a Lieutenant governor of Nevada.
• Before she was known as "The It Girl", she was known as "The Brooklyn Bonfire".
• She worked at a hot dog stand on Coney Island as a teenager, run by a man named 'Nathan Handwerker' (really!!), who later founded Nathan's Franks. However, contrary to legend, she was not discovered there.

Now that normal service is resumed .... (thanks to all those who made it possible), and the rule breaking post removed from this thread (thanks to mods ~ especially Wendingo who has been unwell - get well soon bud) .... we can try and resume.

Brett Butler (b. Brett Anderson) was born in Montgomery, Alabama, USA but grew up in Atlanta. Her father abandoned the family when she was 4. After leaving school she married but later started work as a cocktail waitress in Houston. She then tried her hand a stand up comedienne. She appeared on 'The Tonight Show' in 1987, and this led to a spot on the Dolly Parton's 1987 variety series, 'Dolly'. She was then taken on as writer for the remainder of the show's season, before it was cancelled.

But this had given her a platform and in 1993 she given a role as the star of the ABC television show Grace Under Fire until 1998. During this time in 1996, she published candid memoirs, entitled 'Knee Deep in Paradise'. The book covered her life prior to her 'Grace Under Fire' television debut.

In October 2011, she appeared on 'The Rosie Show' and discussed her issues and in 2012, appeared in a recurring role on the CBS soap 'The Young and the Restless'. In the same year she also got a recurring role in the FX show 'Anger Management' .... this show is still running. Her film career was never big but she has two in pre-production in 2014.

She has been married twice, the first when she 19 to a steelworker and she later reported this as being an abusive relationship, her second was to a New York lawyer which ended in 1998.

She stated that her drink issues stemmed from the misery of her first marriage and aged 23 shortly after fleeing that relationship she got into an automobile accident with a really high alcohol content in her system. She was sentenced to sessions at a drunk-driving school. She later described herself as being a 'young, itinerant, crazy alcoholic cocktail waitress'.

On a Letterman interview on TV she joked of Walt Disney: ''His last words were, 'Whatever you do, don't let the Jews get the place.' And then they went and bought it.'' The joke was bleeped from the broadcast.

She allegedly was so proud of the results of a boob job, that she proudly flashed them about the set of 'Grace Under Fire', including to the young Jon Paul Steuer who quit the show.

In 1996 she was in drug rehab, but in February 1998, due to her erratic behaviour stemming from substance abuse, she was dismissed from the 'Grace Under Fire' show, and later admitted taking 'drugs almost to the point of dying', and that by 1998 she 'had been in and out of every $30,000 rehab program there was – sometimes opting for the locked-down psych ward because that’s the only way they’ll let you leave early – and then I’d go right back to using'.

Her second marriage ended over her issues but she didn't sober up for another six months. But she has reported herself as being 'sober' since 1999 .... however her TV career basically stalled from 1998 until 2012 over this issue.

In 2007, Brett moved to a farm she had bought back in her native Georgia where she lost most of the 100 pounds weight she had gained but then she lost the farm, went broke, and was also briefly homeless.

• 'Anger Management' stars Charlie Sheen who has issues of his own.
• Butler won a People's Choice Award for acting and the show won for best new series; Butler also won a Best Actress trophy in 1995 from the Quality Television Awards. Both the star and the show received Golden Globe nominations.
• Was named after Lady Brett Ashley in "The Sun Also Rises" by Ernest Hemingway. Her mother's remarriage to Bob Butler when Brett was six changed her surname from Anderson to Butler.
• Her Grace Under Fire co-star Julie White didn't appear in the show's last season because the situation on the set became difficult due to Brett's addiction problems.
• Her salary for 'Grace Under Fire' was $100,000 per episode.

Chynna Phillips is the daughter of 'The Mamas & the Papas' band members John and Michelle Phillips so she was never going to be a typist. However surprisingly she wasn't a child star, indeed her only acting role in her childhood was in the 1975 film 'Little Boy Blue'.

Her career started more properly in 1987 with a role in 'Some Kind of Wonderful,' and interspersed with standard TV roles, and reality TV, has continued ever since. Her best known roles are in 'Striptease' in 1996, 'Harold & Kumar Get the Munchies' in 2004 and 'Bridesmaids' in 2011.

Her other career is as a singer, with her and the Wilson Sisters (Carnie & Wendy) recording a song-demo "Take me out to the ball-game" in 1983, under the group name "The Satellites." They signed with SBK Records in 1989 and released their debut album, 'Wilson Phillips' in 1990. Their debut single, "Hold On," hit No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart on June 9, 1990.

In 1995, she released her solo-debut album: 'Naked and Sacred.' Released her debut album for 'Chynna & Vaughan' (a new duo with Vaughan Penn) in September 2009, entitled "One Reason". However has since performed in several reunion tours and an album as 'Wilson Phillips' without quite recapturing earlier successes. She is married with children .....

Given her background, its perhaps no surprise that she had a drug and alcohol addiction in the late 1980's, and later said that "I had a lot of abandonment issues. I ended up turning to drugs and alcohol as a teenager. Eventually I sort of pulled my life together ... I wrote the song 'Hold On' because of all the trials and tribulations I overcame."

In 2010 she has rehab treatment for anxiety issues ...

She also filed for a divorce, only to ask her lawyers to withdraw it shortly afterwards.

Her sister Mackenzie Phillips has made a number of increasingly serious claims about incest, and other family issues, which have been publically believed by Chynna, but vehemently denied by the other members of the extended family, and perhaps reflect more on the mental state and issues of those involved, rather than the reality of the claims. NB: I have held off posting on sister Mackenzie, as she seems to have ongoing mental health issues, and her claims are very serious (way past the 'disgrace' criteria), and have not been verified.

Trivia:

• Her mother wanted to name her India at first, but her father said "You might as well name her North Vietnam or China." .... so Chynna it was.
• Half sister of Bijou Phillips, Mackenzie Phillips, Tamerlane Phillips and Jeffrey Phillips.

Sometimes a story attracts my attention because it makes me laugh .... so without further ado I am introducing you to Ms Rachel Hobbs (aka Lacey Lorenzo). Her claim to fame to-date was that since she reached age 18 she has been a nude model, who also features on such late night TV entertainment as 'Babestation' and 'XXXPanded'.

However all changed recently, when to celebrate her 21st Birthday last month, her family and her went to their local Toby carvery, The Crown, in Bromley South London. Now as you might have guessed, given her occupation, Ms Hobbs is not shy, so when she felt that the service at the carvery was not what she expected for her birthday dinner, to whit, the plates were dirty, she complained.

Apparently the waitress was not a fan, but at least one of her boyfriends had been, because she allegedly recognised Ms Hobbs as 'Lacey Lorenzo', was suitably pissed off by the claim of dirty plates, and loudly retorted 'At least I don't get tit outs on TV' .... cue a war of words.

The exact sequence of events was apparently: she complained that the paper plates used to hand out her cake were dirty. 'They gave us dirty plates. They had bits of dried food stuck to them. When I said "Excuse me, these plates are dirty", the staff had such bad attitude that they just grabbed them back. I said "That is not very good customer service" and the waitress shouted out in front of everybody "At least I don't get my tits out on TV"'.

Matters soon escalated, and the Pub called the police ..... by now everyone in the pub had heard the insults .... including Ms Hobs granny, who until then had not been aware that her grand daughter made her living by getting her 'tit outs on TV'. Ms Hobbs claimed that "I just wanted to go there because I enjoy roast dinners (not 'roasting'). It was so messed up. Its do unprofessional to do that. Its just my job. I was crying. I just wanted to have fun'.

When the police arrived, they calmed matters down, and later confirmed that no one was charged. The Toby chain issued an apology for the 'unprofessional comments' from the waitress. Granny Hobbs was surprised that the police turned up at her granddaughters birthday party, and that she hadn't previously been 'up with what Rachel does for a living' .... and the waitress, well we don't know what she had to say about it all.

It made many of the UKs newspapers this week, most of whom devoted considerable column inches to what they obviously enjoyed as a story .... and who can blame them

Katy Johnson is from Brattleboro in Florida, she graduated from Trinity College and was a law student obtaining her JD degree. Her mother is an attorney and she’s now a practicing attorney, sharing a legal partnership with her mother who is also the 'Starlettes' co-author. She was planning to head to Orlando to start a law firm with her husband.

However she was a regular on the pageant circuit for a while, where she was Miss Florida and Miss United States Teen 1995, the winner of Miss Oktoberfest 1998, Miss Vermont 1999, and Miss Vermont USA winner 2001.

She is said to be a member of MENSA, and as a columnist for 'Pageantry Magazine' and author of "True Beauty: A Sunny Face Means A Happy Heart." ... She has also appeared as a lifestyle coach in the MTV documentary "MADE" and was CEO of a now defunct cartoon web site which 'promoted abstinence, good manners and character for 8 to 12-year-old girls' via her 'Starrlettes comic strip.' She published an article on the 'ABC's of Abstinence' in 'Teen' magazine.' ... she was also a Wilhelmina Model.

As this one is a bit of a litigious minefield, which has finally been settled (or so it seems) .... I am not publishing all the documents or finer details, but adding relevant links where appropriate to support only facts about the events.

In late 2002 or early 2003, on a visit to Boca Raton, Florida she met, and depending upon who you believe, either was just 'friends' with, or had a brief but highly sexual relationship with a gentleman called Tucker Max in her Ford Explorer, near Mizner Park in Boca Raton, just a few hours after they met. No great shakes, but he ran a 'dating Web site', which listed all his encounters with women in great detail including the sex side .... She was a champion of abstinence.

So when after the event, he ran a post entitled "Miss Vermont Story" in which not only was their alleged sexual encounter recounted, but also a portrayal of Ms Johnson as insecure and promiscuous and essentially a hypocrite with her public abstinence stance, she wasn't a happy bunny.

She went to the courts with a lawsuit claiming, among other things, invasion of her privacy. In response to the lawsuit, a Florida state court judge issued an order for Mr Max not to write about Johnson; to not use Johnson's first, full, or last name; not to use the phrase "Miss Vermont" on his website; and not to disclose any "information" or "stories" about Johnson ... he apparently replaced the page of his site that used to contain his rambling memoir of the events with a reference to the court order.

"There is nothing here because a certain ex-pageant contestant has obtained a temporary restraining order against me."

However the case attracted much attention with national discussions of first amendment breaches by the judgement.

The ACLU intervened, filing an amicus brief, claiming a breach of Max's First Amendment rights, and asked a federal court to overturn the judge's ruling that forced him to remove a story about former Miss Vermont Katy Johnson from his dating Web site .... she voluntarily withdrew her lawsuit, and Max's story was once again posted on his website. An expanded version of the story was later published in Hilarity Ensues.

The moral of this tale seems to be if you portray yourself as a moral champion, then make sure you live up to it ... or maybe just 'people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones'
