I used Handbrake to transfer massive avi files from VHS capture to manageable mp4, those files started out at 30gb for a 2 hour movie and after the transfer, they were around 2gb. I remember the bitrate had a big influence on file size. I think i remember setting it at 1500 for max quality/file size balance. It needs a good quad core (core 2 or athlon II) CPU to work reasonably fast though.

imgding - very simple image grabber addon for firefox quantum
I created a very simple image grabber for firefox quantum using the new webextensions-api.
I recommend open single post view to download images. How to install 0) download it from here: https://1fichier.com/?bntihkhs0s (new version) (10KB) 1) Open the addon page 2)Install Add-on from file 3) select the file you downloaded 4) confirm permissions. This sounds dangerous, but actually its not. Trust me on this 5) done. It should look like this: How to use 0) Open the post you want to download 1) Click on the id-icon 2) The popup opens. It only has two buttons: "Ding!" to start the Download and "Clear Log" to clear the log. The folder name is optional. If supplied a sub-folder with that name is created for the images. If no name is supplied, the current date and time is used for the name. 3) After Click on the Ding! Button log entries appear and the downloads are listed in the download dialog. 4) the images are in a subfolder of 'imgding' in the default download folder with a specified folder name: with default folder name: Attention: Set a default download folder If you have "Always ask where to save files" activated then Firefox will ask you for every image where to save it. If the post contains 100 images, it will ask a 100 times. Future Plans As always, creating a first prototype is fun and challenging, but now comes the boring stuff: fixing errors, improve usability, make a nice ui, etc. I will gradually improve it, but it will never be as sophisticated as the original IHG. Drop me a line if you encounter a problem or have any suggestions. Last edited by halvar; June 20th, 2018 at 05:16 AM.. Reason: pixhost is also supported, changed link to new version |

imgding 0.0.4 with improved ui and error handling
The version 0.0.4 improves the ui a little bit.
Ironically the improved error handling makes things more complicated and more prone to errors. https://1fichier.com/?bntihkhs0s Installation and usage is described here. |

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet but Format Factory is excellent for converting videos/pics as well as reducing the size of video files with very little if any reduction in picture quality.
For example I had a number of classic porn movies DL'ed that were over 1GB in size, converted them to MP4 with Format Factory and the size was reduced by half and practically no loss in quality. https://formatfactory.en.uptodown.com/windows

If you are a digital hoarder and spend more time downloading than organizing, I found and recommend these two video duplicate finder for Windows. Similar to image finders, they don't just compare the filesize and filename, but analyze the content (= checking for similar scenes/frames, no matter what resolution).
Video Comparer https://www.video-comparer.com Super easy to use, just the amount of options that one needs. Unfortunately the "free" version as advertized on the website is just a trial version. It doesn't display the filenames and paths in the results list, but you can guess the videos from their filesize (open up Explorer and sort by filesize). Full version starts at $20, which is still cheaper than buying a new hard drive just to fill it up with more duplicates. Video Duplicate Finder https://github.com/0x90d/videoduplicatefinder Fully free, absolutely no limitations. Not as good looking and simplistic as Video Comparer, but slightly more options that one doesn't really need. |
