Sadly true. Colvin was arrested and bravely stood her ground against the lawyers despite her young age.

It was Colvin who made the federal courts minded to ban segregation on buses - mainly because they were fed up with these daft cases coming to court and wasting their time and resources. When Parks followed suit, and the boycott started, she pushed the issue over the edge - but she did not start it.

I'm disappointed Dr Who compounded the myth.

There is now a Claudette Colvin Day in Montgomery in March. Not to take anything away from Parks, but good to see Colvin at last recognised as the true pioneer.

Gotta say I'm enjoying this series so far. Whittaker is bringing her own style to the Dr and plays it well. I think the Stenza will be a good baddie (as will Krasko) . For the poll above: How can anybody else win apart from Tom Baker; mad eyes, theatrical pauses and voice -full of mystery. Can't be beat

Baker was good it's true, and Whittaker is filling big shoes with aplomb...but Matt Smith will always be my Doctor.

What a parcel of pc shite that Rosa Parks episode was.
Utter patronising drivel.

A sermon in how to think from hampstead and primrose Hill ( lefty luvvie darling land) to us oiks.

I have to pay for that whether I like it or not through the UK TV licence system.

Patronising drivel that makes a large annual profit for the BBC and keeps your fee down...

Perhaps that will placate our resident little ray of sunshine ...a bit?

In all honesty, Arachnids In The UK last night left me more peeved than the preceding episode (which I've already commented on in an earlier post)

Good points:

Graham O’Brien trying to cope with his recent loss (re: episode #1 'The Woman Who Fell to Earth')...I am really warming to Bradley Walsh in "Doctor Who". It was also good to see Ryan (Tosin Cole) connecting at last with his step-grandad.

The Giant Spiders - as I stated in another thread, I was really hoping these were linked to the "Classic Who" episode 'Planet of the Spiders' or with the revelation that they were mutations caused by toxic waste, a link to another "Classic Who" story 'The Green Death', and it was disappointing not to see/hear Jodie Whittaker hint about the similarities to those earlier stories (when (s)he was Jon Pertwee). Another thing: are ALL the spiders trapped?

OK point:
Yaz's family...too bad Yaz (Mandip Gill) decided traveling with the Doctor was more preferable instead of re-connecting with her relatives. She still feels like the weakest character in this team.

Bad point (which left me peeved):
Donald Trump...sorry I meant Robertson (Chris Noth). A way-too-obvious analogy to the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and I was annoyed with Robertson's inclusion as the unscrupulous hotel-building businessman with plans of being US President in 2020. Robertson felt more like a bad guy for "Scooby Doo" instead of Doctor Who, but (unfortunately) since he survived this episode, I guess we will see him again, to allow this series more opportunity for unsubtle Trump-bashing, As I stated elsewhere I'm not a fan of Trump, but name-dropping him in last night's episode felt ham-fisted and unnecessary.

I can believe anyone still does that. You do know those stories about vans driving round detecting if you've got a TV are a crock don't you Chris?
