Refreshers in my day were a big chew. In the middle was sherbet or something like it. And drum sticks, remember those?

I was given a huge box of Drumsticks two christmases ago but I never got round to opening them-it came from a warehouse, via a friend of ours. I wasn't really keen on the flavours. Refreshers were all fizzy, no middle to them and they were hard, not sure you could chew them mate.

I seem to remember Parma Violets being rectangular in shape when I was a kid? Monday evenings dad used to come home with my brothers and my comics and some sweets for us. I had the Eagle, and my brother had the Victor, I had parma Violets usually, but I can't remember what sweets my 'big brother'.
Amongst my favourites were / are...... Floral Gums, perfume type of taste, but yummy. Problem was that if you didn't eat them quite quickly they used to form a solid clump that made them slightly difficult to prise apart later. American Hard Gums, still favourites of mine! The school tuck shop used to sell these, 3 for 1p if I remember correctly. These too were favourites of mine... Hmmmmm, I must raid the cupboard now and see what I have laying around, I've got the munchies! Hey do you remember those too?? Whoops, I forgot another monday favourite of mine....... Cola Cubes! I liked the pineapple cubes too, but cola were always my first choice out of the two.

Those just look wrong, they look like the cats bone a big jobby on the carpet.
I remember those from when I was little, I must have eaten tons of them. Quote:
You can actually still buy them. I got a big bag of them from my local 99p store a few weeks ago. They also sell them in flat bar as well now. I remember Cola Cubes I think they also did a pineapple flavour. The shops used to have loads of sweets in big jars and they would weigh out what you wanted. Don't see that anymore. Edit: rustler beat me to the cola cubes by making his post while I was still searching for pics.

Sorry mate! When I was a kid, and believe it or not, I was once! , many of the sweet shops still had the old glass jars that they used to keep the sweets in, at that time, they still had glass lids too. Another one that I liked, especially when they were a bit warm..... BTW. if any of you have the chance and haven't already been there, then a trip to the Cadbury factory at Bourneville is a great day out! And oh, the shop................. It's well worth the trip, and they give everybody a huge bar of chocolat too!!

They looked much the same but Floral Gums had a more "Perfumey" flavour...
