The worst one for me was a song on a child's program. I was living with a girlfriend for a few months in the late 80s and every morning while I was still in bed, her kid was watching Sherri and Lambchop and the final song of the show was called "The Song That Doesn't End". I'd still be in bed and always woke up at exactly the time that song would come on. Got so bad, I was actually humming it at work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4ztfrr8fls

I try to quickly turn the channel or station when that happens but sometimes you can't help it like in a department store or elevator. Or with your girlfriend's kid. It's usually some inane melody but that just shows the power of simplicity and why the general public likes the dumbest nursery rhyme sounding music. It never fails. You get a great album by an artist with eight or nine potential, killer kick-ass hit songs and the weakest, most brain-dead tune is the average joe/jame says is their favorite. Rarely ever the one with the cool beat or groove. Usually something your little sister would put together on Garageband with an ice cream calliope truck melody and an annoying kiddie sing-a-long chorus.
