I realize it would go in the Modern section also why I said I'd take it down. The problem I'm running into is finding gif image host that wont bombard people who click on it to view. That one is from Turbo Image Host and cant find a link to just post still thumbnail. Gyfcat doesn't appear to offer a bb code to share the thumbs and a couple other haven't been working to well either. Although I have seen animated thumbnails occasionally while scrolling around I don't know as a dozen or so in a post is a good idea. Which is why I guess I asked.

Do you need to register with them, or is it advisable to do so?

I registered just to keep track of things and its pretty clean fast site. My problem is getting still gif thumbnails from it.

As much as P&H is not my host of choice, before using Imgbox I used to use P&H in a pinch for my gifs. As far as I know they still have a still gif thumbnail which must be opened/clicked on to animate it.

Some other hosts I used for gifs were awful -- when opened they would "drag" in slow motion until going through the gif's cycle before animating at normal speed.

My posts are probably the simplest on the forum. I was using imagevenue.com, but now I have switched to hotflick.net. So easy to use if you just use it for uploading one photo which is all I ever do(except on The Great Pizza Thread). I will have to try to see how to make multiple posts using it.

Default Galleries / download helpers

Thanks for all your suggestions of alternative image hosts. Besides Pros and Cons, please also provide info whether or not they are offering the option to create galleries, so that download managers like JDownloader and browser add-ons can spare us the hassle of downloading one single pic after the other.

It would also be helpful to know whether or not the above mentioned helpers are compatible/work with / support these image hosts (Pimp&Host for example does not on my end - not to mention crap like imgtiger.org). A remark like "Download helpers not checked" would also be OK (maybe other members can check that then).

PS:
"Never put all eggs in one basket!" is well said, but would it be an alternative posting the pics to different hosts and combine them in a single post (duplicating / multipling)?

I'm not familiar with JDownloader, but in the Test-Subforum are at the moment testuploads with following hosts:

pixxxels.cc
ImgBB
PIXhost test
turboimagehost
Hotflick.net test

Maybe some kind soul, who works with this tools, can try if this tools work for this hosts.

I found one meanwhile here in a more popular forum (even though there are some ridiculously/silly IMHO posts there, but also quite a few valuable posts). Isn't it a waste of time to discuss the same issue in different forums on VEF? Mods, please combine that discussion in one single thread! We don't have time to monitor different threads to find a quick solution for this disaster. I think, we have better things to do. As for me I'm rather thinking of preparing reuploads of posts important to me - and maybe other members too (to whatever host it would be in the end).
