Here in the U.S., Burger King's been running one featuring a grown man dressed and acting like an infant. I dunno if BK is aware of it, but that's one of those euphemistically labelled "lifestyle" choices. It's a subculture of adult males who like to dress in pampers and onesies while the suckle bottles and mess themselves, and maybe I shouldn't be so judgmental, but I find it real creepy-like, and it doesn't make wanna patronize Burger King.

The car insurance ad featuring Iggy Pop. Can't remember the company (so, ha, that's a fail for them right there), but I know that they WILL NOT insure musicians, so the whole thing is complete BS. I guess Iggy is driving his purple XJS (for that, he should be shot) without any insurance. Now, that's rock 'n' roll!

I agree with all the 'send us your gold' adverts... I actually do like 2 of the the Go Compare ads... "He's only a tenner..." and "Donna havva da fish"... Yes, my other half and I hate the very very badly dubbed universal fit adverts; particularly the 'Just for Men' hair dye ones... All the breakfast cereal ads that have clapped out 90s dance music to make them seem 'edgy' Etc. etc... Last edited by Staffsyeoman; January 31st, 2010 at 01:37 PM.. |

Bad Ads. Good lord where do I even begin.
But I think the ones for local businesses are the absolute worst and where I live there are at least a couple that stick out. One is for an appliance store call Geddiman's and the have these two brats that pop up at least three times during the ad and screech out the catchphrase "Get it at Geddiman's !" Annoying ? Hell yes ! Another is for a used car dealer called Bangor Car Care where the owner just screams about the deals he's got and invites us to "Come join the Party !" Makes my head explode. The other thing about adverts, especially the locals, is that they are 10x louder than the program you're watching. If you're not right on top of the remote it's loud enough to rattle your teeth. As far as national (big name) ads go the worst has got to be for the ED treatment Cialas. What does a man and a woman sitting in seprate bathtubs have anything to do with ED ! And it's even more strange where these tubs appear. On the beach, in a park, there was one ad that had them on top of a snowy hill. What's next, a subway, the middle of Times Square ! Enough already. I also have a serious problem with all the ads for perscription drugs. It seems that if you take these the side effects are FAR worse than the ailment they were meant to fix. When does the madness stop. Ghaleon |

Pefume
Most perfume ads (particularly those made by clothes designers) are pretentious shite.

Except this one features a solitary child, who makes these grand sweeping gestures with his arms, then says something - inaudible? I'd quote him, but I really can't understand him! I know I've seen these kind of ads somewhere before. Somehow it just makes it worse that it is such a cheap trick. Way to go, grandad! Give the little bugger something to be seriously embarressed about when he gets older. I can see him now at school. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B7Mp...eature=related |
