Default The last update is to be avoided

The last update of Windows 10 (Windows 10 October Update) is bugged according to Microsoft, and must not be installed.

It's version is numbered 1809.

This is becoming a habit.

Indeed so and this is probably the worst W10 bug yet as it actually deletes files in certain circumstances!

I've always made it a practice to wait at least 2-3 months before installing a new feature release. None of them have given me any problems after waiting.

Are you one of those who has to have the Latest And Greatest? That's cool - you can test it for me. Let me know how it works out...

I always stay one rev behind, that works out pretty good, win10 is current, i stay on win8.1. Same for linux mint...19 is current, i stay on 18, once win11 ? comes out from under the rocks, then i would go with win10.

I have seen this pattern through the years, whichever OS is current, nothing but kinks, Lots of rough riding is happening with linux mint 19 now, but 18 is nice and stable I guess it is all fun and games until someone gets their eye poked, which the equivalent to an eyepoke would be losing the usage of PC because the OS is hosed up.

I usually install the updates after a month of waiting, but also I backup my data each month...

Default New problem with Windows 10 update

There is a new problem with Windows 10 updates #1803 and #1809.

If your machine is a HP you risk to be confronted by the dreaded blue screen.
The cause is an incompatibility of the pilot for the board.

I personnally work with HP machines and I have configured the update for very later.

It seems less and less competent people work at MS.
Damn Satya Nadella.

On top of the problem Ernesto just mentioned, the latest update also:

  • deletes all user documents
