Benny Hill sketch?
Hi,
I have posted this on other boards and haven't had much luck so i'm trying here. Apologies if this is in the wrong section I remember a sketch from the mid-late 1980's and am having trouble locating it on the recent dvds. It includes Benny with his arm in a plaster-cast, but the cast is a fake which gives him the opportunity to use his real arm without people knowing. I'm sure it included an update of his earlier sketch where two men at a bus stop hail a taxi by lifting thier umbrellas, lifting up a lady's skirt in the process. Benny, with his arm in the cast, uses his real hands to get friendly with the lady. The episode was broadcast in uk before the one with the weather girl/boy, possibly the year before. It would make it about between 1982-1984. Sure it's not included on the DVD's already released. How I remember it was because I had forgot to tape it. A friend of mine later said he had seen the trailer for the new Benny Hill special where Benny lifts a girls' dress with his umbrella. I asked if it was at a bus stop, hoping what he had seen was a repeat of the previously shown one I had forgotten to tape. No, it was set in a weather house, and sure enough, the 1985 special was the one they showed. Problem is, not sure if what I had seen was a repeat or if the 1985 one had previously aired. I know 100% that is was an 80's show and not the earlier one from the 70's but my memory says that one of the men with the umbrellas was Jackie Wright so it couldn't have been too late in the 80s. It's got me puzzled as I have been waiting for this special to be released and it doesn't seem to be included in any one of the DVDs Fake plaster cast combined with a re-make of the 'hailing a taxi' skit. Did I dream it?!!! Was it from the Australian special? Any help would be great. |

There is a sketch for one of Benny’s shows that I like it’s from the 70’s, it shows a group of people sitting in a studio, listening to some classical music I think, there are two females one wearing a mini skirt who’s show stocking tops and the other a low cut top showing quite a bit of cleavage, the main joke is that you hear the voice of the director giving the cameramen there instructions, but instead of following the instructions the cameramen are more interested in the two females, it seems to be quite a rare sketch for I’ve not been able to find it, the sketch did parody quite a few live TV program of the day, for it happened on Top of the Pops quite often, does anyone have a copy of the sketch.

I remember that one too, its where they are watching a band playing and the voiceover says, "right lets focus on the trumpet...I said trumpet not strumpet!" as the cameraman zooms in on the girl's ample cleavage and yes another on stocking tops. Incidentally Jenny Lee-Wright was featured in the Morecambe & Wise Christmas Special 1977 which was shown on Sunday BBC2-you might be able to catch via BBC Iplayer.

I happened to watch Antenna TV on Jan 2nd, and they had a Benny Hill marathon, and they are not censoring it. They showed the Jackie Wright holiday clip that had the brief nudity, including Sue Bond's butt and Helle Louise's tits

Sports segment
My favorite segment was Benny as a soccer broadcaster on a British sports program. It was a takeoff on Dickie Davis. Does anybody have that clip? Thanks

My favourite bit is when he can't remember his name and has to sing Happy Birthday To You to find out his name is Dickie O'Davies. Have you tried checking Youtube?

Having watched a few videos uploaded on Youtube I was struck how Benny Hill influenced Paul Hogan in the Australian series of The Paul Hogan Show, with characters that wouldn't be out of place in the Benny Hill Show like skateboarding Nigel, Leo Wanker the stuntman(although obviously that has a different meaning in Australia to here and wouldn't be allowed), and of course the gorgeous women that send the men into a spin like Delvene Delaney and Karen Pini(read Louise English & Sue Upton) Have a look on Youtube and see for yourselves then compare Hogan to Hill.
