How did they stay floppy?

I remember a lot of the great stuff I've seen on this forum. One thing that always puzzled me was how guys could stay so limp in some of the old pictorials. I know it was done to get around the censors in some countries, but seriously. This guy is surrounded by beautiful, naked women, and...nothing:

Even at my advanced age I could rise to the call in such circumstances. Anybody know how they used to stay so unaffected?

The word you are looking for is flaccid and my theory is that maybe there were two different shoots-the first they wanted to concentrate more on the girls and secondly we don't know that another one after that had him & them doing more explicit stuff-there is a famous story of Tom Byron and Traci Lords booked for a photoshoot which just required poses etc but they got on so well and both carried away they had sex-the photographer couldn't use any of it so left them to their own devices. I reckon this went on a lot but apart from the obvious professionalism, I would say the men used had a lot of will-power (I wouldn't say they were all gay!)

Quite common in mags circulating in England late 80s - early 90s (pre-internet days

). I may be wrong here, but kinda thought it was not allowed to show full erections at the time?

Explicit pictorials was taboo back then as I recall.

Professional male models I always thought, that could stay limp until required.
I also thought there would be 2 sets, one 'tame' for UK publications and one with erections , but not penetration for the Euro/US markets

Pro male models, no way? I mean look at them most of the time, the tame UK stuff are just kinda pasty dudes. I'm no Adonis but I've got a better physique now some 20 years later than those guys had back in the day. If you were looking at the likes of Whitehouse etc 20 years ago and you were half fit you had to think you looked better than the dude in the set. Only thing for me is I wouldn't have the cahones to have meself photographed for all the world to see in case I got recognised.I admire their confidence showing their bits to the world but no way would I swap places.

I can't be the only one that thinks this. Room full of folks telling you to twist this way then that, no way is the captain standing to attention.

I always though they did the hardcore scene first then the british version straight after because a lot of pictorials in our 80s mags often turned up on the european mag market.
