One way to get round the restrictions in place in the 50’s and 60’s was to give nude and soft porn magazines and photos a veneer of aceptabililty. To do this, many soft-core porn or pin up magazines featured so-called ‘Art’ photos or photos of supposed nudists. Not only did these make the magazines more acceptable they made it easier as a result for men to purchase them without (or with less) embarassment, especially young lads eager for masturbation!

1. Nudist
A popular, option that allowed soft porn to be freely available was the so-called ‘Nudist’ magazine. Porn cinemas of the era often showed stag films that were structured as mock documentaries about the popularity of nudism. Masturbation hungry men could get off watching films about the innocent pleasures of naturism featuring plenty of undressed women. Some of these magazines or photos were, at least partially, set in and featuring genuine nudists and nudist resorts. Some would feature both male and female nudes and this was the one variation of 50’s/60’s soft porn tht would feature saggy boobs and less than pin-up perfect bodies, the nearest publications came to the ‘amatuer’ or ‘readers wives’ category. Genuine nudist photo were more difficult to airbrush so were one of the few times a nice full bush was published. However, many were little more than fiction where naked women were photographed in seemingly nudist poses or situations.

But many magazines pretending to be for 'naturists' were really just meant to legitamize nude photos for masturbation.

A number of rules governed this kind of photography. Often they were published in magazines which presented as being for practionioners of nudism even though the reality was that they were for men who were not interested in ‘naturism’ but were very interested in erotic photos. Photos needed to have an aura of nudism rather than just feature naked women so models were often photographed in pairs or group situations which was rarer in conventional porn. Models were also photographed in more ‘active’ situations rather than static poses and the other trick was to photograph models in ‘nature’ settings that implied nudism such as on a beach or in the countryside.

The 60s was the best time for me as a boy with an unlimited curiosity of anything sexual but especially as my mum, her friends, the ladies who lived in my street, and their teenage daughters, and even my 16 year old cousin, all wore stockings and suspenders or a girdle with the little suspender tabs and were never careful enough to prevent a glimpse of them. I think I saw more glimpses of fanny when I was 3to4 then I did after I was married, all enhanced by the milky flesh above the stocking line.

I think that those of us who were about in the sixties had the best of everything: music and records that meant something and had words you could understand; motor bikes (mostly BRITISH);money went a long way and we had the best girls and women with the tastiest underwear and stockings and girdles and ........ dream on!
