I was just a wee laddie the last time we beat them and was beginning to think I'd never see another victory over the Aussies. We rode our luck quite a bit in that second half but a win's a win and we'll happily take it. Well done lads! It's been quite an encouraging start to Andy Robinsons term as head coach and I find myself, for the first time in years, being quietly optimistic about Scotlands future prospects.

To be honest I get my deliveries so late in the afternoon it may as well be in the evening.

P.S.on the football front, just noticed Spurs walloped Wigan 9-1 today, stewards enquiry I think, any football syndicates in the house tonight?
The sole Wigan goal was scored by Paul Scharner of Wigan who deliberately handled the ball to control it before scoring.

Hmm....sounds familar. Funny though, why isn't this news?? The man's a cheat....

(OK, I'll stop now)

It could be the 9 goals by Tottenham overshadowed the hand ball incident-but then again this was just a league game not a must-win World Cup qualifier so it was probably ignored but I am sure the referee made a reference to it in his report for the FA so if anything is done(at all) they will do at a later date.

Well it had to happen, last night HEART radio played the first Christmas song of the season-Jason Donovan played 'Last Christmas-Wham! so we can expect a flurry of them shortly-personally I wait until Dec 2nd before playing my CD of classical Christmas classics plus get some MP3's from a memory stick and play those to death through WIN-AMP. To me its too early now, at least wait until Advent Sunday-next week! Don't get me wrong I ain't no Scrooge-and before Christmas its Chanukah anyway

A crueler wind has blown in Fiorentina v Lyon tonight which blows Liverpool out of the Champions League and into the Europa Cup(formerly UEFA Cup)-ah well I suppose it was too much to ask for Lyon to win it let alone grab an equaliser-maybe this is what we needed to wake us up. I wish Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal the best of luck in their knockout stages.

Football, like sport in general, is 1% joy and elation and 99% pain, rage and disappointment. My own beloved and serially bankrupt Leeds United are 6 points ahead in League One and with a game in hand on second place Charlton Athletic. We have just beaten Leyton Orient 1-nil with an 89th minute killer blow in classic over the moon/sick as a parrot tradition, I should be gloating. But I have lived long enough to know that there is no advantage so crushing or invincible that any team I support in any sport I love cannot throw it away. No counting of chickens in football GM, not ever...

I've also seen a house which did have Christmas decorations adorning it. 'Did have' is the operative phrase here because the decorations had been blown off by the extremely windy weather. They were strewn over the road and pavement and I saw, presumably, the owners picking up the broken decorations whilst attempting to dodge the traffic.

Poor bugger!...there's a house in Spennymoor Co Durham that just leaves their lights up all year!...How lazy is that, my partner wanted lights on our house and I refused. What is the point, I have 10' high gates and the house cant be seen by the road and I have no neighbours, Bah humbug!

Cheers Brianwp.
Actually I should be turning my thoughts to Chanukah soon (the Jewish festival of Lights-think Diwali without all that noise!) It comes before Christmas but although we do both in this household, we've always had a tree up until mine and my sister's teens and we put decorations up because they brighten the room and they have nothing to do with the meaning of Christmas - We have a tradition that because my sister & brother in law & his mother come to us for dinner three days after Christmas Day(rarely Boxing Day now because they got to watch their team AFC Wimbledon) so we wait to open presents, but I do open some Christmas Day from friends.

I was out this morning and noticed a real chill in the air, not because it was windy this time but there is a real drop in temperature on the way-a sunny day but freezing cold and with the wind it made most of my extremeties cold-this is the sort of weather we should have had and now will have as we rush towards December. My favourite thing is stepping out on a cold yet crisp December morning and although we don't have White Christmasses in London, I would settle for a frosty one.
