Where's the fun in that I thought; guns are shit, buy guitars instead.
It is very likely that this firing range was a military one. Switzerland with her long held neutrality, has a very small standing military, the slack is taken up with reservists, they train in the evenings and at weekends.

It is a bit awe inspiring to know that the road you are quietly driving along has an ulterior task, a runway for supersonic fighter jets!

I have met people who have fired at Swiss gun ranges. They seem to be open to both public and military. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooti...in_Switzerland

An interesting range in Switzerland shoots safely over a main road. http://www.amusingplanet.com/2016/11...rland-has.html

Here is an article from an anti-gun writer that will not be received well by most on this forum.

Amazingly from the Washington Post.

Yep. I'm binational.
In Switzerland guns are not glorified by the population.
Swiss people don't have the right to walk with a gun in the street. That's illegal.

Some Swiss "Libertarians" would like to have the right to carry one with them and try to surf to the recent acts of terrorism to defend their cause.
Hopefully they are a microscopic minority.

But Swiss people can't walk with a gun like in several US states. That's illegal if they don't get a license delivered by the justice to carry a weapon.

My best friend probably has 20 guns at home. But he's an excellent competitor in precision shoot. He has the level of a sniper. But I never went to a bar with him and seeing him with a weapon.

In Switzerland people even can't walk with a "stiletto knife" on them.

Surely they are scouting locations as we breathe.
I'd like to know which part of responsability have our medias in this problem.
That's quite evident to see that terrorists use medias to diffuse their acts and their rotten propaganda.

Look at the John Lennon's murderer... he killed John Lennon to become..... famous.

Maybe these murderers should remain anonym forever. Maybe the police would take their corpses and immediatly burn them.

As far as I know the military cannot get them out of the base any more. In the past it was usual for Swizz reservists.

But there were no or very, very little incidents in Switzerland with those weapons ... not to mention of any known mass shootings.
The most incidents have been suicides, I think the reason they don't give it to the reservists any more (... out of the base).

Insofar I can confirm what 'xyzde69' has said.

Hmmm maybe they could:

1) stop to sell new ones.
2) slowly destroy all the guns taken by the police.

but yep, when I read rogerbh sentence telling that there are more than 400 millions guns in the USA... it will last a very long time before to solve the problem apart if the law gives the rights to the police to proceed to visit the houses of potential crazy people.

There was a "mass shootings" in Zug parlament in 2001.
A guy killed 14 politicians before to kill himself.

The another guy shot people in a small mountain village called Daillon in 2013 killing 3 people and wounding 2.

Even in the quiet Switzerland, people are not free of crazy ones....
But I'd like to know, how many people are killed in a city like New York (8 millions inhabitants) compared to a country like Switzerland (8 millions inhabitants)

If you moved Switzerland into the same geographic place as the US, had our sets of minorities, even with your laws, our gangs and drug violence would give this "new" country the same level of violence that we have. We lost Prohibition and we have lost the war on drugs - our ability to control gang violence is next to non-existent. Hell, we even have some brain dead politicians trying to pay gang bangers to not shoot people. How long before that backfires? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/09/01...eep-peace.html

An interesting comparison is the crime rate in American Samoa - which is supposedly low - https://wikitravel.org/en/American_Samoa with the crime rate of American Samoans in the US. http://www.hcn.org/issues/303/15680 In certain areas, they make up 1% of the local population but 13% of the gang members? Supposedly they formed youth gangs as a means of protection from being beaten up by Hispanic gangs. Parents have little or no effect on gang membership - ? Drug trafficking is a major source of revenue for them and of course violence goes hand in hand with it.

Since we can't solve this violence problem, it would be interesting to see how your country would deal with it. I doubt that it would do much better than what we are doing. The possible solution of legalizing drugs and trying to take the profit out of it appears to be political poison.

I believe that any country - if they exchanged geographic positions with the US and had the same minority mix as we do, would have the same violence levels. Good luck with trying to get 400 million plus guns off the streets.
