As for the "pentatonic riff" part, you remind me of something similar Yngwie Malmsteen said about Joe Satriani and some other guitar players in the early 1990s.

I hesitated to become a professional guitarist.
IMO Satriani is more creative than Malmsteen. Even if guitar heroes are not really my cup of tea.
Malmsteen was incredibly self-sufficient.

My old boss, a huge Rainbow and Ritchie Blackmore fan, called Malmsteen a guitar wanker. He's definitely more interesting than Satriani in my opinion but his music starts to bore me after 15 minutes. I prefer jazz/fusion guitarists like Allan Holdsworth, Shawn Lane, Frank Gambale, Bill Connors and others.

Van Halen was another megalomaniacal narcissist whose ego exceeded his talents. But you can say that about almost every "big" rock/metal guitar player.

@xyzde69: You have thrown down the gauntlet of challenge because I think Depeche Mode is okay, Guns N' Roses are a decent band (who are now becoming popular again), and that Mötley Crüe are actually good musicians, despite any narrow-minded comments to the contrary. Of course, MC called it quits in 2015 because "All Bad Things Must Come To An End"... or maybe because they sold their soul, they will die suddenly of STDs like any of those Tommy Lee or Vince Neil may have...

It was my point of view, but I totally agree if you don't like my music.
I love big tits and my best friend... small ones.

I don't like this John Cougar Mellcamp's style.

But French journalists write that he's more than a country musician. He's a real social guy.
