An Unknown Brown
.
One with the handle of "Kirk the Cat" partly wrote on Twitter (i.e., "X"; that update still takes getting used to), in a page I'll be referring to again at post's end, "There are times I think it (Raiders of the Lost Ark) may be the single greatest film ever made. I consider it Spielberg’s masterpiece but that’s still a tough one." I never thought about Raiders as the "greatest," but you'd have to admit — it's beautifully done. I got a yen to watch this fabulous movie again (an upcoming Animal House-related post of mine will include the actress who played the heroine; that's what sparked the recent viewing), and a familiar scene cropped up. You may recall after the thrilling opener, we see our hero teaching at the university, and the girls are looking at him dreamily: Before I continue, since the lady we'll be discussing has the same name, she is not either the "softcore model" (here's her thread that begins with no introduction, as if everyone knows who she is), nor the extremely talented "actress-writer-goddess" (as she describes herself on her site, https://www.juliebrown.com/). .............. Beginning pair taken and reworked from "softcore" Julie's thread, first from Member "Dredd007"'s Post #64 (2012), and second from the late "Hattertim"'s Post #70 (2015). The last is my screen shot that I took for this post exclusively (me so dedicated), and it's of funny Julie early in her career, when she fortunately made the "nudity concession" in BLOODY BIRTHDAY (1981). Funny Julie's modest VEF thread may be found here. You may guess what I'm leading up to. One of the students is seen in close-up, and when she closes her eyes, Dr. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford, of course) is taken aback. What she has written is "I Love You." Not bothering to check the IMDb's cast page for the film (I did not believe she would have been listed), I ran a search and came upon this fan site's discussion page that ran from 2006-2022. First, some writers were dead certain the actress was Pola Churchill, but thanks to VEF and the post I prepared on this extremely beautiful actress, I knew they were wrong. (DEAD wrong, in fact, because I made reference to Ms. Churchill's exact involvement with Raiders of the Lost Ark; yet it's interesting how the one who came up with that I.D. was so certain, meaning we always need to be skeptical of claims.) ... Rebecca Miller, possibly addressing (ironically) Harrison Ford in one of her ten acting credits from 1991, REGARDING HENRY. Then there was another who was pretty sure the one in question was Rebecca Miller (September 1962-born in Connecticut, USA, and an apparent no-show on the forum), daughter of director Arthur Miller and wife of actor Daniel Day-Lewis for almost three decades (her IMDb page). As evidence, the picture above was put up, and the resemblance is so strong, one can't help but conclude the case had been solved (once again... always remain skeptical). ........ Ms. Brown from a long shot, as she's seen at scene's end when class is dismissed. It was only in the last couple of posts when the mystery was decisively solved, and the reason why readers learned the lady was Julie Brown is because an actor friend of hers (named Jon Donahue) spilled the beans on his Twitter/X account in 2020 (adding "I Love Her," without also writing that on his eyelids, I don't think). A participant in the discussion claimed the credit would be added to the IMDb's cast page in early 2023, as a result. Here is "unknown" Julie's IMDb page, revealing she would go on to appear only twice more onscreen in minor roles (spaced far apart, in 2005 and 2018), with her major show business claim-to-fame deriving from working as a script supervisor, for which she has racked up over thirty credits from 1990 to 2021. .... Julie Brown and Jon Dohohue. A few months ago, Mr. Donohue honored his friend again (this is the second reference to the "X" link I warned you about earlier), by way of the 43rd Anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Comments from both "X" pages include, "What a sweetheart she is"; "She's such a cutie"; "She’s a legend"; "Always had a semi-crush on her when I was younger!"; "Beautiful"; "She had the prettiest blue eyes I had ever seen." What a bunch of losers getting worked up over a pretty face they saw for only seconds. (Why, just like me.) . |
