Has anyone else been getting very low speeds on FileFactory lately? Averaging about 15 kb/s, or around 8 hours to download a 325 MB file.

I took the trouble to uncheck the box as suggested, but I still can't get anything but their damned .exe file to download.
Update: I tried the free registration, and while doing it got one of those "FBI Money-Pak" lockout hits! I cleaned that up, but I'm staying away from this site! Last edited by N-KB3; July 3rd, 2013 at 11:01 AM.. |

shareware, as is said on the Wiki security site here. Not from visiting a webpage, or registering at a file host site. So you didn't pick up anything while registering at FF. If......you downloaded something from Filefactory, that contained this virus, then why on earth have you not reported the poster of this file? I've personally downloaded the dl accelerator that one gets when not checking the box, scanned it with 4 different virus and malware prevention programs, and never found a thing, but that's besides the point because you said that you picked up the moneypak virus just registering with them, which according to sources can't be so. |

I kept fielding complaints from someone about my Depositfiles links, saying that they had to type in their cellphone number to make the download. I had no clue what they were talking about, I have never (and still have never) seen anything like that on Depositfiles. It took a series of screenshots from me to convince this person.
Exactly the same situation here, I've never seen FF try and download an .exe (I don't use Windows so if its an executable or a virus it makes no bones to me :| ). So stunts like this are regionalised, not everybody get faced with them. I don't know if FF are doing it themselves (unlikely) or a third party is somehow hi-jacking the link. I would theorise that using a proxy would get around this.

Even unticking the box I get the exe download. Why not delete all of the links that do not result in the desired download.

I've not heard a single person that uses FireFox, say that they haven't
seen that opt out box on FF downloads. I know that I've seen it every time I've gone to make a download as a free user. About 99% of the time I use FireFox too, but while in the middle of typing this, I tried an FF link with Internet Explorer, and sure enough, there that box was waiting to be unchecked. Just to make sure that that accelerator wasn't downloaded anyways, I went ahead and started the download as well, and what was downloading was the file that I was after.......not the accelerator, or as those that seem to want to make this sound worse than what it is, that "EXE" file. It's a one time use so called download manager, that's really an accelerator that doesn't work. It's a way for FF to pick up some extra change, and nothing else. It sure as hell doesn't help you download any faster as a free user, and if you do happen to use it, you'll use it only once to download the file that you were wanting. As Gailfan said, it may very well be a regional thing as to why some aren't seeing the opt out box, as to that regards if you've made it to the download page. My guess is that it's more to do with the disabling of scripts and such in one's browsers if that box is invisible to you with either FireFox or I.E., and any similar problems with other browsers, simply being that that browser is not compatible with Filefactory's website. Hard to say for sure on my end, because I've seen that opt out box every time. |
