begos,

Dick Morris? If someone were to look up political weasel in the dictionary there would be a picture of Dick Morris. The guy is always wrong! I'll never understand how anyone could pay the least attention to him.

Money is flowing heavy on both sides now, and its become quite clear that politicians don't work for all of the American people. What's really, really disgusting is the openess of the gerrymandering going on in some of the Republican controlled states.

I was reading an article not long ago about Pennsyvania ... the way the Republicans are arranging the electoral votes, Democrats could have over a million more individual votes for the Presidency in 2016 and STILL lose the electoral votes of that state.

This is simply WRONG on all counts. This is taking away the whole purpose of voting. A federal judge needs to step in and stop this crap!

I think that became clear during the last election. Remember how Sheldon Adelson (the billionaire from Las Vegas in the gambling industry) kept Newt Gingrich in the race way longer than he should have? And then there was the guy (forget his name) who kept Santorum in the race almost all by himself? I remember seeing someone say, after the election, that what any politician now needs is a billionaire. As long as they have at least one they can stay in a race for almost as long as they want. Just imagine if one of these guys were to get elected?

For instance; imagine if some billionaire had just pumped multi-millions of dollars into your campaign and you won. What exactly do you owe that person? Take Sheldon Adelson. He pumped millions into the Gingrich and Romney campaigns while being under investigation for some deals in China. There are allegations that Adelson is actually under the thumb of the Chinese. So now you have a President that owes the Chinese?

The Supreme Court says it couldn't happen but, if the allegations prove true, we could have had a President (Romney) who owed the Chinese whatever they wanted. Wonder what that might be?
That's what I have meant at least at Post #48.

Or owned by a company or owned by a number of companies. They should have stickers on their suits!

Default Obama dumb asses

I am glad Obama is your God and not mine. I can't wait for 4 years from now when you robots wake up and find Obama is history. You can still worship him after he is no longer president because it will be a free country again. Start a cult worship him with pride.

I get the vague impression that you dislike President Obama. But I do find the reasons obscure. Some explanatory narrative on why America under Mr Obama is deemed not a free country would be useful in helping me to wrap my head around your argument.

I'll laugh like f**k, if after President Obama retires and another democrat is elected. I will also have a massive Irish whiskey knowing that happening will annoy individuals like you even more..

As I've said in previous post why you think President Obama is so bad?

Or don't you have the balls, or are you Mel Gibson?

PS I don't worship your president, but as an interested observer, I think he's a far better option than Mittens Romney.

Umm...if the country isn't free now...then how is an election supposed to fix things? Be that as it may as long as the conservative right continues to make public fools of themselves on a daily basis look for more of the same in the future. Let me explain the difference to you: Its called democracy because half of the people will feel cheated half of the time as opposed to a dictatorship where ALL of the people will feel cheated ALL of the time. We had to tolerate eight years of that train wreck known as the Bush Presidency so I think tolerating eight years of Obama is only fair in turn. Democracy in action. If this were in fact a dictatorship or the otherwise repressive government that you claim then there would be no elections. Conservatives really shouldn't play with words they do not understand. They only end up hurting themselves.

The GOP has devolved, since the Reagan era, into the batshit crazy party who live in their own bubble. The Democrats have devolved into a spineless party.
Both are on the payroll of Wall Street, Banks, big business ( like insurance, oil, communications, tobacco, NRA, timber, coal, etc) . Virtually none of them live anywhere close to their paygrade, making most of their money thru dummy corporations via legalized ( and un-reformed) lobbying laws. They dont work for the people they work for themselves, both putting politics before the will of the people. The evidence of this is everywhere. I will say, of the two its harder to peg who is more to blame: the GOP for pontificating its negative views on women, minorities, entitlements, global warming, gays, poverty, the middle class ( whats left of it) or the Dems for letting it happen. Of the two, the GOP is FAR more represented in the media by idiots like FOX news, Anne Coulter, Hanity, O' Reilly, Palin, Bachman, and Rush Limbaugh. The best person they could nominate was Bush W ( an alcoholic, and ex coke head, draft dodger, and faked Yale grad) and Mitt Romney ( a mormon, who believes in magical underwear and the planet Kolab, who changed his platform weekly). The GOP is also more apt to employ fear tactics, religion, and wedge issues to prey on the suggestible. Mitch McConell and his cronies had/have a secret agenda to deny any proposal made by Obama, before they even knew what they where. Again politics before people.
This certainly didnt bode well for the public ( who knew better) perception of them.
But in the end they are all lying and greedy power mongers who have voted in constant pay raises for themselves ( to give credibility during tax time as to their living beyond their salaries) denied campaign reform, voted their actions opaque and without accountability, and receive full pensions and health care for life.

Just so you understand the rules, Rod, we don't call each other names on here. You are not to to be calling your fellow members "Sheep". This may be what you think, but some thoughts are not lawful to be uttered in their original form. It is a worthwhile and interesting mental exercise to say what you want to say without being discourteous to the other fellow. I can understand if you feel ruffled by our frank dismissal of your earlier post, but you should reflect that we did not call you any names or abuse you. Just in passing, though I can tell it would kill you to use the honourific (eg President Obama; Mr Obama), it would help you to make an objective argument. Objectivity is hard when you are personally invested in your dislike of President Obama; take one step back and think, and your ammuntion will start to appear.

You say Mr Obama has no balls. If so:
  • Who authorised the military raid on Pakistan to kill Bin Laden?
  • Who authorised and saw through the bail-out of the US motor industry when so many people were arguing that it would be better to let free markets take their course?
  • He has supported gay marraige. I am far from persuaded that this step is either necessary or desireable, though I supported (and support) civil partnerships which grant the same legal rights, property rights, and impose the same duties as marraige. But I recognise that Mr Obama has gone against the views of many church congregations to do this. The black vote is also quite religious; they even played church organ music at the 2012 NAACP convention when Mr Romney was addressing them.
  • In a similar vein, Mr Obama has required all health plan providers, including Catholic providers, to provide all FDA approved birth control, including the morning after pill. He is prepared to face down people who threaten to disobey the law.
Now, I am not here to say President Obama is the best thing since sliced bread. There are quite a few things he has done, and some things he has not done, to which I strongly object. But you say he has no balls; and you haven't backed it up. You say dethtongue is a low-infomation voter; but you don't offer information in your post.

The Mel Gibson reference is to an irrational man who spouts rubbish; it was implicitly uncomplementary without directly insulting you. I'll keep an eye out for that and stop members using this technique if, and only if, you post a coherent and considered argument against President Obama and thus prove they are wrong.
