That's doesn't solve the problem of putting a name to a face. It was kinda fun reading member "solutions" for their digital porn collections. I agree, for the most part, having a "real" life and a real girlfriend, wife, significant other, is probably the wisest choice... But... Yeh, there's some incredible porn out there (let's face it, or we all wouldnt log in here).

It's nice to know some members have much bigger collections (2 TBs!!!) than my own humble stash. Particularly enjoyed SexObjex's unusual stat:

"Cum (in L, assuming 5 ml ejaculation): 173.9 L" [Creative humour always tickles my funnybone]!

Anyway, I think it's a matter of quality over quantity (these days) coz hard drive space is no longer a limitation. My simple rules are:

1. Collect rarer (or good) performers (VEF itself is a great reference for this)!

2. Collect high-resoultion images and vids (above 360p) (when possible)

3. Collect your performer images & vids in a folder using their name.

4. Generally avoid copying to blank DVDS/CDs (as other members have pointed out, these have a high fail rate).

If you have a very rare (or cherished) collection, back up to another hard-drive (with USB enclosures now, thats fairly easy to achieve).

Here's some of my favourite rarities I would be hard-pressed to replace!

I still have crates full of magazines I've been trying to part with. I spent a good two months several years ago editing my vhs tapes onto dvds and hard drives. I have one hard drive full and 11 discs full of vintage 80-90s porn. And still haven't watched more than two minutes since Im usually online watching stuff.

But the real problem is these magazines. Three double sized crates. Becoming harder and harder to hide them. I cover the top layers with Guitar Player and Rolling Stones magazines then have boxes of other stuff on top of that. Have moved them from one closet to another to the basement to the shed. Right now my nieces who come over unexpectedly to visit are really nosey and they love jamming on my keyboards and drum machine. In the shed. And they went treasure hunting and found some old fishing poles which were in the same corner as the crates. It's only a matter of time. They're only 13 and 14. I told my brother it might be time to have that talk with them.

Your not going to find the needle in the haystack unless you truly try and remember when you see it for the 1st time - its probably not worth the effort to even try given the numbers involved

Creating small collections of the obscure performer under a theme that also serves as a back-up is one way to make it easier

Creating a picture / cap index along similar lines that you use on your desktop as a wallpaper collection another way of keeping the truly obscure front of mind instead of buried treasure you never use.

Sometimes de-cluttering a collection can actually improve it

I've lost count of the number of times models pics/clips turned up on different sites
over and over

My library has only grown since the last time (& place) I showed any of my library in semi-public (@ Exit Chicago in 2012). I am still dedicated to physical media, but the low prices of small, portable hard drives like the Seagate 1000400 have allowed me to supplement the DVDs with on-line content, much of that downloaded onto it via V-E-F.
I still believe I only keep the good smut. It may diverge from what you enjoy, but that is the way it must be. Smut is the most personal content there is. But hopefully, the content I would present will fall into enough people's enjoyment spheres.
Can I quantify the amount? Compounding physical media with capacities of up to four hours worth with different rip sizes of downloaded content will be too futile. I'd rather view the smut than delve into hours of advanced mathematics.
