No one knows if anyone was poisoned. We know UK had a sample of an agent, and the UN confirmed it was what UK said it was (though Swiss labs have a different opinion). But no one knows where it came from, or if it was used on anyone. Not to be unpleasant or anything, but if it was used on people, they would have been corpses weeks ago

In the meantime, what happened to Skripal and his daughter? Or the cop? Is anyone allowed to interview or visit them? Why the secrecy?

I'm sorry to say that there's little doubt in my mind that Iran not only has a stockpile of fissile material that could be used to build a number of bombs, but undoubtedly the know-how to do it and assistance from Pakistan and North Korea.

You don't set up 20,000 centrifuges, build vast underground bunkers, buy in top Russian scientists and risk running your economy into the ground without a very good reason. And they really don't need nuclear power.

These people are dangerous and intend to be top dogs in the region. They are playing quite a long game and know exactly what they are doing. 75 years ago, America started working on a very crude bomb. They had no experience, no proper facilities and everything was untested and generally theoretical. Refining material was a major challenge, nobody knew how to handle metals like plutonium properly, etc, etc. But they ended up with workable technology!

Now you can buy books, probably on Amazon which outline almost every aspect of constructing a basic weapon. Many physics students have a fair idea how to do it. You can buy more than enough computing power in PC World to make all your calculations and you can shop around on the Internet for lab equipment and machine tools.

It's not really a question of Iran getting a bomb, it's more a matter of how many they can put together. Israel has every right to feel seriously concerned about these people who do represent a major threat to the region.
