Default WWII Nose Art Nudes 1939-45 Part 1

From the pages of Esquire and countless other magazines, and from the pens, pencils, airbrushes, and pastels of the great pin-up illustrators, came the inspiration to decorate the combat aircraft of the Army Air Force During WWII.

Inspired by the masters of illustration from the era such as, Enoch Bolles, Gil Elvgren, Peter Driben, George Petty, Billy DeVorss, Zoe Mozert, and the incomparable Alberto Vargas, these lonely guys showed what they were really fighting for.

It was that idealized knock out. That gorgeous siren. That star spangled beauty. It was the American woman, not apple pie, that kept the hearts (and groins) of our boys a- thumpin.

Thanks to Woody for the original pixels.

(If you dig this stuff, a simple google image search will deliver reams of it.)

(sorry about the lo-rez)

Here's A-M (N-Z next post...)
