There are not enough superlatives to describe what this man accomplished. It's safe to say this site and all of us would certainly not be the same without his pioneering influence; every American girlie magazine (and certainly a few foreign ones) owes him everything. He was the embodiment of the American entrepreneurial spirit and he lived the American dream to the extreme. R.I.P.

 He will be buried above Marilyn Monroe or at least that's what I have always read.What a great man he was.He probably was one of the luckiest guys in this world to be around so many hot ladies.I wouldn't be suprise if they "erected" a statue of him. While it's easy for some to judge the man on the last 10 years or so of his life, what he built and accomplished could never be matched or recreated no matter how hard one tried. His fights to protect the first amendment made Al Goldstein and Larry Flint's later victories possible and did more to create the Sexual Revolution than anything in American history with the only exception of the Pill.
Hefner proved that all things are possible and that you can turn your dream lifestyle into not only a reality, but an empire. He glorified the beauty of the American girl like nobody else with maybe the only exception of Florenz Ziegfeld decades before him. We all owe more to this man than we can list here and we're all better because he existed. I hope his legacy long outlives him because we need fun, beauty, and fantasy more today than ever before. RIP Mr. Hefner and thank you. |
