Seemed such a stupid manoeuvre after he finally got past, totally unnecessary but the team definitely screwed him with their decision.

Every place that I've looked only mentions Grosjean getting nailed for two points. No mention of Sirotkin or Perez.

What do folks feel about the third car idea?? Maybe a championship within a championship only eligible for rookies and them not counting towards World Chamionship points...
I'd like to see more cars on the grid but obviously funding would need to be found to run these extra cars, it wouldn't bother the teams up the pointy end of the grid with massive budgets and sponsors locked in but other teams down the other end of the grid who can't get the sponsor $$$ as easy would still need to have drivers bringing a large sum of money to secure the drive which still has the issue of talent sometimes not being enough to get a start in F1

I do like the idea of the rookie championship though

Don't know if I can mention the F1-website where this quote comes from, so I don't

Quote:
As well as handing Perez 3 penalty points - bringing his 12-month total up to 5 - the stewards issued a drive-through penalty.
According the same website Grosjean is now on 9 penalty points (of 12). This number will reset after the Mexican GP.

He just loses one I think after Mexico, the rest are staggered across the remainder of the season.

trailmaster is now reading the F1 thread.

I wonder what he thinks of Ricciardo moving to Renault?

Aha! Found it. This article below (and waaay down at the bottom of the text) says that Perez got three penalty points at Singapore, with Grosjean and Sirotkin getting dinged for two each. The article also says that those penalties add up to nine points, but I suspect that the author was typing against a deadline or something.

Penalty points -

"Penalty points will remain on a driver’s Super Licence for a period of 12 months after which they will be respectively removed on the 12 month anniversary of their imposition."

ie, points they just got will stay on their licences until Sept next year.

I personally hate the idea of having more cars on the F1 grid, as I feel it will cheapen the exclusivity of the sport. Having so few cars compared to its rivals makes F1 a cut above the rest, as so few can take part each year. The creme de la creme, so to speak; a couple of idiots at the back aside.

Default question for sunday

with great suspense I wait for the answer. will Mercedes let Bottas win? hell no, Lewis would throw a sh*t fit on stage and that would ruin the carefully crafted image of no team orders there. oh well, better to enjoy the midfield machinations anyway. 5 to go after today. Do hope Ocon finds a ride though. think he deserves one.
