An aviation story that caught my eye recently- Late last year historic warbird operator Boultbee Flight Academy took their Mk9 Spitfire on a 27000-mile trip around the world.

There was some PC stuff about the silver finish being chosen over because it was 'less provocative than one adorned with camouflage paint, we hope to broaden the appeal and reach of the project, and gain easier access to nations en route', but that bare-metal finish really does emphasise the pure elegance of Mitchell's design.

MJ271 was quite an appropriate choice of aircraft for such an international project- during a combat career of 51 missions in WW2, she was flown by pilots from the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway and Trinidad, before going on to serve with the Dutch Air Force postwar.

Big Grin Lovely 40 plus degree day it was in the Avalon dust

Hmm,
2 of ya should know where these were taken, by me almost a year ago to the day.

Avalon Air Show 2019, was in my hometown that weekend and decided to go, more or less just to try a new camera, these I've resized to about 1/3rd original so quality is lost.

I've no idea what the aircraft are except for the jets,

1 fighter jet 300 metres away is loud enough, 4 together is better
Great display by all pilots in all aircraft that day.

As kid I thrilled to the adventures of Biggles, so there's only one fighter.
