Trailmaster, I hope you are only going through a temporary miserable period, because there are always things of interest to keep us occupied if we look for them. Actually, I would say that something like 2/3 of my friends have not had happy marriages and many found that after a relatively short period they discovered they were living with a complete stranger, or someone they didn't like very much. My cousin in Toronto has been married three times and now lives on his own, preferring it that way. I don't know how it is for someone like you in a big city, but there must be numerous things you could get yourself involved with that would give you an interesting social life. If you weren't a long way away, I'd probably say meet me for a drink and a chat. You seem to be someone who gets on well with people, so don't be too unhappy. Life is short anyway and you have to make the very best of every day :-)

You're dead wrong about me. I am not social at all. I often despise the company of my fellow human beings, which is why I've been a loner all my life, but now that I am getting older, am retired from work and do not have much to do my problems seem to be catching up with me and my life is in a tailspin, and I don't know what to do about it. I tried volunteering and that worked for two years, but I got really bored with it and it was also very stressful. I am easily stressed which brings on anxiety and depression.
