All through Europe and the United States we are seeing a resurgence of right wing hate groups, violent attacks, and rabid overt anti-Semitism. We are seeing corresponding increases in left wing violence from groups like the "antifa." All of this mirrors the disruption and polarization seen in the period between two world wars in the last century and are doubtless a reflection of the disruption caused by the Middle Eastern wars and economic uncertainty.

These are sad times indeed for those of us who had hoped that humanity was heading towards better times. Oddly, the great mass of humanity is very much better off. A good deal of the problem is a result of our numbers nearly tripling since the last slaughter. This has placed great stress both upon physical resources and our limited tolerance for coming in contact with people we don't much care for.

Another landmark bites the dust...

According to CBS news (Dallas), the town of Corsicana removed a statue of a gorilla that has been part of the Community Park's playground for nearly 20 years.



Apparently the city received some calls from community members who, after 20 years, have decided the statue is offensive and racially insensitive.

But wait.. this story has a better than expected ending...

After the statue was removed, a considerably larger segment of the population was also outraged-- only this time at the stupidity of this.. turning the now deserted spot into a shrine:



The response was so overwhelming that the city has now decided to reverse itself and will put the gorilla back as soon as weather permits.

Maybe one day we'll learn that not every complaint professing outrage is worthy of a reaction.
