So I take it that all train stations throughout Europe will now have to be completely enclosed with all kinds of scanners at every entrance and security police running everything?

Did you know there is talk here in the US that we're going to have to do the same thing at all movie theaters! Can you imagine it? If you go to a movie you'll wind up feeling like your trying to fly somewhere. Wonder how long people will put up with that?

Also wonder how long the movie industry will last if all of their customers get really pissed off and have to deal with that for every movie? I'd be willing to bet the movie industry would soon be out of business. Now I wonder what the ramifications will be of no movie industry?

When you take a train you are obviously going on a journey and it is reasonable that many passengers will be carrying bag(s) with essential items they may need for the next few days.
The most I have ever taken into a cinema is a wallet. If someone has a bag maybe the cinema should provide lockers, there is really no need to take it into the theatre itself. You would think the cinema owners would search bags/bulky clothing as a general rule in case of recording equipment.

Guns take to pieces and can be re-assembled. It needn't be conspicuous until required for action.

My question would be who incited this person, facilitated his intended crime and put him up to it? Capturing him alive is unusual and an opportunity to both understand the process which got him to that moment and to round up and punish a lot of other guilty people who probably thought they would be completely safe.

It was probably the sounds of Him reassembling it that alerted the two U.S servicemen,Also it may have been the model with the folding stock.

Believe it or not??

Taliban denies carrying out assault on NATO convoy that killed 12, wounded 66 KABUL
A massive car bomb targeting a U.S.-led NATO mission convoy killed at least 12 people, including three Virginia-based American civilian contractors, near a hospital during rush hour on Saturday, the latest in a series of deadly attacks that have struck the capital in recent weeks.
The assault occurred at 4:20 p.m. outside Shinozada hospital in a middle- class enclave of the capital, a few miles away from the heavily fortified American embassy. The blast was so powerful that it could be heard in faraway neighborhoods and prompted the embassy to blare its emergency sirens. Nearby vehicles, including a school minivan, were severely mangled, some in flames.
In addition to those killed, as many as 66 people were wounded in the attack, said Wahidullah Mayar, a Health Ministry spokesman. In a statement, U.S. Army Col. Brian Tribus, a military spokesman for the NATO Resolute Support mission, said that one of the civilian contractors was killed in the attack, and the other two later died of their wounds. Their identities were not released because their families had not yet been notified.
The Americans worked for Dyn-Corp International, a private military contractor based in McClean, Va. In a statement, the company said it extended “its thoughts and prayers to all involved and to their families and loved ones” and declined to comment further.
Saturday’s bombing was the latest in a wave of deadly attacks in the capital that have killed more than 50 people since the announcement by Afghan authorities of the death of the Taliban’s spiritual leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.
In the months since the U.S. and NATO forces officially ended their combat mission in December, the Taliban and other militant groups have intensified their attacks in many areas of the country.
On Saturday evening, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed in a statement that the group was not behind the bombing. But Mujahid had also previously denied Omar’s death.
It’s possible, though, that other militant groups, such as the Pakistani- based Haqqani network, could have carried out the attack.
The U.S. Embassy in a statement condemned Saturday’s bombing, saying that “our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families who suffered as a result of this attack.” Raghavan writes for The Washington Post.

Not all of the people who went to Israel came from Europe. Quite a few came from places such as Iraq and Iran. Neither is Israel particularly a base of operations. You can be sure the Americans would be flying from there if they could; but they can't. Turns out that the American-Israeli alliance is a bit one sided.

Israel's "peace wall" may yet turn out to be a model of the future, in which people who persistently suicide-bomb and murder all over the place have to be shut out. I would like to hope not, but it might happen. Far from being a base of operations, Israel has (IMHO correctly) determined that shutting her enemies out and turning her back on the Middle East is her best way to gain security. Militant Islamists can only hurt you if you interact with them.

You can't build a wall when the terrorists are your own citizens and You have to interact with them.

I think that the current relationship is pretty strained at the very top levels between the US and Israel, at least IMO. When each nation's leader appears to detest the other there will not be a lot of cooperation between the countries.
I disagree with your last sentence though. IMO any militant Islamist group will go after any place or country that they feel is not doing what they want them to do. Look at daesh, do you believe that if left alone they would stop attacking areas out side of their sphere? I don't.
I think we see that all over the world. France, US, EU, Africa, even Canada and Scandinavia are getting hit by daesh inspired Islamists.
