Since Swann went we have been through a hat full of spinners and with the exception of Moeen none have been of test calibre, with Dawson being the latest incumbent. Take wickets or score runs in CC and you have an above average chance of making the test side, but as many find, Test Cricket is on a much higher plain and they just don't have the character or the fight. |

Apologises for being tardy with my reaction here.
Congratulations to Ireland and Afghanistan for their promotion to full test status. I think the ICC may now introduce a two division test league system. The Irish players who currently play in the English county championship will now have to be considered as overseas players surely? For someone of my generation who witnessed the West Indies reign supreme in all forms of international cricket for 15 years must be saddened by the fact that the Windies are now in serious problems both on and off the field. Their very future must now be in jeopardy. They still own the BCCI monies for that cancelled tour a few years ago. |

^^ And if the two divisions are based on results, where does that place England ?
Problem with that is that teams do not play each other every year. You then get the likes of England, Australia and India in one division and there is not likely to be any relegation since they effectively run the show. And then the 2nd division teams get little chance to play the 1st. Not that they get much of that any way. |

I might be wrong, but I thought the ICC shelved the two tier test idea last September.

The other problem will be convincing the top tier nations that the tests would be financially viable, if not profitable. Bums on seats?

Well I hope that the England ladies are not watch Australia vs India in the 2nd semi-final.
Given that India have already thrashed England once and appear to about to do the same to the WC holders I do not hold many, if any, hopes to England in the final. But cricket is a great leveller. Get a few decisions your way and who knows. Don't give up just yet. Image of the moment. When the Indian Kau (that's probably give my form a mis-spelling) giving her partner quite a dose of the verbals when almost run-out at 99. What a destructive innings. England beware. |

England with the ball and in the field in the first game were dread full. Some rank friendly bowling and plenty of butter fingers, dropped Raut three or four times as well as basic fielding errors. Batting was a little better, should be an interesting final if England play well.

Well the ladies have done what the men have failed to do. In fact they have now done it 3 times (or is that 4 ?)
Commiserations to India. The only team to have beaten England in the tournament. And it sure looked for quite some time in their innings that they would do it again. But England did not give up. Credit too to England's chief coach who could step into the men's role without effort. There's gonna be quite a party tonite. |
