just on the Star trek thing nearly every planet they seem to visit is a monoculture where everybody wears the same clothes,has the same religion and have one leader or president for the whole planet

A few more from Star Trek (& most other sci-fi)

Any 2 ships meeting in space will always be the same way up.
Why do spaceships need to bank when turning?
The shields always drop to 80% at the first shot.
Phaser & laser beams should be invisible in space with no air to diffuse the light.
All "ultimate weapons" (tm) must have one vital weakspot which is easily accesible.
All "ultimate weapons" (tm) require several minutes to deploy or recharge to give the hero(es) time to find & exploit the afore mentioned weakness.
Don't get me started on inertial dampers going off-line every 5 minutes. The crew should be a red mess on the walls by now.

More Star Trek....

Every single episode has an impossible situation that is resolved by the engineer/science officer/bar tender saying "perhaps if we realign the anti matter toaster/re-polarise the lavatory paper/change the bulb" and it works...EVERY BLOODY TIME.....

In the movies:

Females who always cover themselves up in bed even though they've just been shagged senseless by the man (or woman!) next to them.

Towels that are always gravity-defying when attached to a woman (the worst example of this I ever saw was Ursula Andress in The Blue Max: that thing was super-glued on!).

Blokes who turn away when handing a naked woman a towel...I mean!!!!!!

Women immersed in baths which always just (and only just) covers their nipples (I think most of my teenage angst came from that!).

need to start a car but have no keys? simply pull all the wires out of the steering column (don't worry, they're just hanging there and will come away easily) then just touch any two wires together and the car will start instantly. (don't worry about the steering lock as movie cars don't have any)

Add to that cars that explode at the merest touch, and tyres that squeal when they go around corners....on sand???
