I think I understand now that I have consulted some Australian slang dictionaries. Hiram Big the richest and most intelligent man in the the construction world does not barrack(root) for anyone or thing. He is a sophisticated man of the world. His interests lie in the design and construction of the most complex and elaborate things in the world: buildings, mansions, bridges, office buildings, scientific laboratories, power plants including nuclear power plants, aqueducts, any and all kind of manufacturing plants and many other things. Hiram Big does not concern himself with the trivialities of the common man. He has bigger dreams, and whenever he starts a project he sees it to completion no matter what the cost. Hiram Big is a superman among the masses!

I have been know to use the word root when referring to women's tennis, but as a general rule I wouldn't say I rooted (barracked) for anyone, I'd get laughed out of the pub...and probably called a poofta ta boot.

If only you aussies would use "the Kings english" instead of your slang gibberish the average non-Australian member might understand what you're saying!

Trouble is we haven't had a king for 65 years now. Perhaps that's why the Aussie lingo has fallen into disarray.

But there has been His Royal Highness Prince Leonard I of Hutt overseeing the Principality of Hutt River since 1970. Surely that must help with the lingo?

I think Hiram Big will have to add something new to the front door of his mansion Quokka Terrace. When someone comes calling, he will be asked some very ordinary though slightly difficult questions. If the person answers the questions using aussie slang gibberish, instead of normal English, the person will be given a time limit in which to leave the premises. If the person does not leave, the laser defense system will burn that person to a crisp.
