Have you been to the Bathurst track yourself - it's one of my favourites on Grand Turismo.
The old track was better, without the kink in Conrod Straight.

You can drive round it as it's a public road. My brother has been round it with some mates in a campervan.

Back when it was mainly dirt/gravel surface, used to hold the Australian Grand Prix?

It was a rather rough surface, like most of the GP tracks up until the early 60s. Bathurst and Longford were public roads and, like Lowood, long, fast and extremely dangerous.

I think Conrod Straight was altered about the mid-90s.

Edit: It was changed in1987.

It was changed because of a fatal crash on the straight the year before , can't remember the drivers name, I remember he was in a Commodore and also had something to do with the FIA back then wanting the track suitable for the World Tourning Car championship , or something

Question

To all Austalian and New Zealand VEF members: If you were swimming of one of the thousands of public beaches all over Australia and you saw a dolphin in the water near you would you approach it?

I'd do my thing and let the Dolphin do it's thing approach it, probably not, but of the Dolphin came to me I wouldn't swim the other way.

There was an old Ferry service that went from Queenscliff to Portsea then Sorrento in Port Philip Bay, The JJ Farnsworth, on that service it was common for Dolphins to swim with the Ferry for the entire 1 hour journey

Only time I've ever seen Dolphins, I think.

Are there such things as private beaches in AUS?

Don't Australian shores belong to the Australian people?
