Stupid movie cliches and impossibilities - Page 11

Not a double-entendre, but a cliche one sees in films where the scriptwriter, director and actors are not getting sound technical advice about weapons safety. I have once handled a rifle (single shot Martini 0.22 inch rifle which was older than dirt) and never a loaded pistol, but I would never dream of tucking a pistol, loaded or not, into the waistband of my trousers.

Where do you want me to start!

Hercules aircraft do not have ejector seat...period.
Runways do not have manholes on them the CAA and FAA wouldn't allow it. See CAP168!
If there are manholes within 105m of the centreline, the covers have to support the weight of the heaviest aircraft.
ATC Towers are built have resilience in mind. Standby radios, battery backed-up on a separate power supply from mains for the diversion of aircraft. See CAP 670
Communication cables do not run off the airport perimeter especially under old churches.
The Glidepath of Instrument Landing Systems cannot be simply changed to put the runway 200ft below the runway surface. It's a physical impossibility! The angle of the glidepath maybe but be prepared to move aerials.

And that's all I can think of at the moment! If you want me to find more for you then pay me to it because I couldn't bear to watch it again without going in to a mad frenzy!

As much as I adore Ms Dushku and everything she does, it makes me angry how lazy James Camerons' direction in 'True Lies' was. As Arnie escapes the party at the top of the film and runs thru the snow, you can clearly see the face of his stunt double. How stupid does Cameron think we are? At the end when Eliza is hanging off the crane he blew her looping and her facial expressions don't match the dialogue. Then, of course, he sent her up off the ground to film that sequence with no safety equipment. She slipped, fell and broke some ribs. Where I come from that's called child endagerment (she was 12 at the time) and comes with a free prison cell and criminal record. Why does he get away with it? By the way, a quick word to the director of 'Goldfinger'-humans don't breath thru their skin. Just a thought.

The ending of Under Siege 2 when the whole train crashes (havn't seen it in years, but I think it literally falls off a bridge or something) and Seagal walks away with no scratches.. but then it is a Seagal film.

In almost every single police drama the (hero) policeman is hated by his bosses, despite a clear up rate that would be envied by Sherlock Holmes.
They're nearly always bitter divorced loners.
The only exception I can think of is DI Barnaby in Midsommer Murders, who doesn't appear to have a superior officer.
