Been wanting to watch This for awhile. As along with other reviews it`d been called a horror masterpiece.

Hmmmm, nope. It isn't that. I`m afraid.
So far anyway.
Not that it`s a bad movie.
For a start everyone on screen can act.
Is believable in that context.
Only. What`s happening ?.
Am almost exactly half way through and aside from a minute or two concerning a red door. There`s been no tension. Let alone any horror.
Story concerns a family who are hiding in the forrest in a sort of open compound , away from a strange plague.
This family is made up of one white chap and a black woman with her son.
They`re keeping on keeping on. Until a stranger kicks at that red door.
I don't know.
Why couldn't they have been an all black family ?.
Sure it`s a minor point. Although I don't understand why the lead actor had to be white is all. But then I also don't understand why this has been classed as a horror. It`s much more a mystery.

Because like I say am forty five minutes in and still don't understand truly what they`re hiding from , let alone where the film is going

Eat Local (2017)

From IMDb:
In a quiet countryside farmhouse, Britain's vampires gather for their once-every-fifty-years meeting. Others will be joining them too; Sebastian Crockett, an unwitting Essex boy who thinks he's on a promise with sexy cougar Vanessa; and a detachment of Special Forces vampire killers who have bitten off more than they can chew. This is certainly going to be a night to remember... and for some of them it will be their last.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4401006/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK5bgyqVWa4

Stumbled on this flick by accident, but my curiousity was piqued about a British Vampire horror film starring Charlie Cox, Freema Agyeman, Tony Curran, Eve Myles, Dexter Fletcher, Vincent Regan, Nick Moran and Annette Crosbie.
While I found it interesting in parts, too much of this movie felt like a below-par version of "Dog Soliders", which is a shame considering the number of British TV and film stars in attendance.

Dragon Ball Z - The World's Strongest (1990)
- Liked the pulpy sci-fi feel the villains, their designs, settings & mythos had.
- Errie X-Files-ish music helped a lot on that regard too.
- That said the exposition scene with Bulma went on way too long.

Dragon Ball Z - The Tree of Might (1990)
- Really liked Turles's voice actor, suitably smug.
- Use of the tree draining the nutrients & life out of the entire planet was handled well & appropriately bleakly.

- In both of these, Chi-Chi is a insufferable annoyance.

The late Bill Paxton's directional debut, I've seen this excellent and underrated thriller/horror a couple of times over the years. Well worth seeking out.

What a major disappoint
Cinematography and acting were top class.
However there is no story worthy of the term.
If you've seen the trailers be warned that those scenes are taken from dream sequences in the film. Sequences you`ll always realise are dreams because of how the director frames them differently.
Oh and if you`re wondering , nothing comes at night. You end the film not knowing anymore than you did at the beginning
How it`s gotten such raves reviews let alone is labeled a horror I couldn't say

Currently watching the delicious looking Gwyneth Paltrow in "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow." Angelina Jolie is also in this movie, but I haven't seen her yet.

There`s far more gore , nudity and excessive swearing than I recall.
But that`s Ewoks for you.
Still all in all an excellent film Noir plus the effects have stood the stand of Thyme.
They`re as cheesy today as they were back then.

Good film that.
I recommend Storks the animation from Somy Pictures from last year. It has some genuinely laugh out loud moments-the sequence with the wolves is inspired lunacy. Available on Sky Film channels if you have that or download it from various places.

Finally got round to getting an Amazon firestick and catching up on some low budget horrors I have somehow missed.

The Crypt (2009)

A group of young thieving toerags hear about alleged treasure hidden underground in a crypt in a small town and set off to steal it, the treasure however is guarded by the dead and a series of deadly traps
