Wengers comments about mid-table teams going on holidays after their safe
sounds all very convenient.

Lets not forget Liverpool went on holiday during the month of January losing to all and sundry

Man City had a prickly patch earlier than that after a huge unbeaten run

They kept the door ajar for a long long time begging Arsenal to pass them

If Arsenal miss out they'll only have themselves to blame given they've lost 9 games
compared to 6 for the 2 their chasing - he actually said they would be to blame

Not sure why he even bothered to bring it up unless he was trying to rev up
Man Citys next opponents West Brom (last 9 games 1 win 2 draws 6 losses)

failed miserably

Man City 3
West Brom 1

Maybe it is true what he says but I am sure if it is, he and Arsenal have benefited from it in previous seasons. Now it seems because he is under serious pressure its suddenly something that only benefits other sides.

None to the extent of Forest Green. Few others in the lower leagues are nothing more than a rich man's plaything.

If there's a better own goal than this anywhere on the interweb, I'd love to see it.

All too true

I'd add the changing landscape of increased competition in the top 6 has exposed Arsenal
You just dont get that type of competition in other leagues

When it was 3 into 3 champions league places Arsenal did is easily because they ony had to compete with Chelski & Man U.

The serious rise of Man City (post Mark Hughes-) made it 3

Eventually Man U will be back

Then you have Liverpool & Spurs becoming better resourced and more consistent

Its not hard to see a time where Arsenal outside the top 4 will be the norm if Wenger
remains

I wont be surprised to see Sanchez leave Arsenal like RVP did eons ago
in search of trophies

I think Sanchez will leave this summer unless Arsenal let Wenger go and bring in someone who can tempt him to stay. I also think you are right and Arsenal fans may need to get used to EL football for at least the next few seasons unless they can turn things around very quickly post Wenger. If Wenger stays then they may not even be looking at EL football due to the number of sides competing for European places these days.

The money is there, the club have made that very clear over the last few seasons. They have the resources to match all but the biggest clubs in terms of what they can offer for transfers and wages. So with the right manager they could rebuild into a strong side. Sadly the name of the game these days is spending money and bringing in quality players. Arsenal for the most part choosing to try things differently is why they are now where they are. I appreciate what Wenger is doing and his philosophy as most fans want it to still be a sport and not a business. However at the end of the day its sadly no longer possible at the very top level. Mid table sides like Southampton can do things differently because their goals are different to those top tier sides. Their aim is firstly to stay in the league and then try to finish as high as possible. Arsenal's is to win the league or at the very least finish top 4. To do that you can no longer avoid splashing the cash because if you do this is what happens.

Retrospective actions for diving bans from next season. A panel will review footage each Monday looking at diving cases and if it is unanimously agreed by the panel a ban will follow.

Is this the end of Ashley Young's Career

It's a move in the right direction, but I'd have preferred a 3-match ban and a majority rather than unanimous verdict. I'm not convinced that ex-managers who, let's be honest, have been complicit in their players diving, will be impartial. If obvious cases of diving keep going unpunished then the FA might have to look at this again.

It's one thing to bring in a panel, another to actually dish out sanctions. But I hope it works.
