No crashes or unresponsive explorers the last few days, so that's good.

I did have an old bug suddenly reccur (sigh), nameliy that the window will turn black after a few minutes of inactivity, no matter what the screensaver time is.
I'ev had this before and i remember it wasn't too easy to fix it.

Learned lesson of today: always bookmark and keep the webpages where you find a solution to a pc problem, because sooner or later it will return...

edit: Fixed!
Found back the fix here:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-e...urn-windows-10
I remembered it involved some diving into the regedit (in order to make that console lock option appear), something i don't dare to do without step-by-step help

Why it reverted back to that ridiculous 1 minute puzzles me.

Off to the next bug

Default Deferring Windows 10 updates

Windows 10 update version 1903: Act fast to delay this big upgrade

Each time Microsoft rolls out a major upgrade to Windows 10, you have the option to wait a few months before you install it on PCs running Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise.

But you have to act quickly.

If the company follows its longstanding practice, Windows Update servers will begin delivering the Windows 10 version 1903 update in April, to current installations of Windows 10 that have been running for at least 30 days

includes link to upgrading from home to pro for free if you still have old keys from
windows 7 or 8 pro / ultimate - otherwise the upgrade is 99 dollars

Which version are you running

Default Don't Want Win 10 Win 7 Coming to an End, Can It Still be Run Safely? Workarounds?

As Microsoft tries to herd us to Win 10, is there anyway to con't security updates that Pro Users will still get?
(I wanted Pro but Dell wanted too much $ back in 14')
I disabled my then new laptop to not do the "free update" to Win 10.
Even if it were still free I really don't want it. Since 7, hell since XP (which I'd still run if it were supported) Microsoft has become more & more invasive and nosy. And I've heard all the horror stories of Win 10 updating automatically (regardless of settings) and people losing data. But privacy is the #1 issue.
For me Linux is a not an alternative, maybe if I had a second PC, but this is all I've got.
Any suggestions, workarounds would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Ononoma, your post is not clear.

Are you using Windows 7 or Windows 10 ?
If you are using Windows 7 is it the Pro version ?
If it is a Home version, you should be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro for a modest price (not on the Microsoft website of course).

I'm still on 1803. I haven't been invited to the party.

It would appear users who have 500 devices of more can buy more support

As posted by Burpman - Volume Licence

On September 7, 2018, Microsoft announced a paid "Extended Security Updates" service that will offer additional updates for Windows 7 Professional and Enterprise for three years after the end of extended support.

The only free workarounds are software to make
