Another blow has been struck against the evil forces of, err...fascist children's authors.

The US Association for Library Service to Children has removed the name of Laura Ingalls Wilder from one of it's awards because of her racist language. Apparently she wrote a rap song, I guess.

Oh, great.

Those books were very big around my part of the country. They even made a TV series out of them, back in the 70s.

Apparently these PC ninnies can't take any work in the context in which it was written. I'd like to transport them back in time to where I live, in the mid 1800's, I bet their attitudes would change very quickly.

Or else they might wander up to a Sioux war party and stammer out an apology on behalf of enlightened PC people everywhere for all of the evil white settlers invading their lands.

I wonder if they could get it all out before the tomahawk went "THWACK"?

Those of us who live in the states know that it's common practice to separate children from their families in the event of accidents, abuse, and the arrest of the parents. Been that way for as long as I remember. You're caught driving drunk, and have kids in the car, you're off to the clink and your kids are off to Child Protective Services. No demonstrations, no misleading pictures sparking outrage, no vicious tweets demanding the President's son be locked in a cage with a bunch of sodomites. It's done. And then it's up to you to prove you're worthy of having your children returned to you.

Apparently, the children of illegals busted while sneaking into the country should somehow be exempt from this practice, same for their parents. Recent events have demonstrated that the cause of the week is that someone sneaking in here with a child is somehow above the law and should be treated as such. All it took was some pictures from the Obama years and the cover of Time magazine depicting a child ripped from her mother's arms (when, in fact, the child was never separated from her mother). Add a little outrage, some grandstanding, and here we are.

Coming to rescue is Dianne Feinstein, an 85 year old relic who has been occupying one of California's US Senate seats as a democrat since the early 1990s. She has introduced what she calls the "Keep Families Together Act". The gist of it is that it would be illegal to arrest ANYONE within 100 miles of the US border... including those who have committed serious crimes or suspected of terrorist activities.

The bill was obviously poorly written and thrown together quickly to try capitalize on the perceived outrage of the moment. Some detractors have called the bill the “Child Trafficking Encouragement Act,” since it would create incentives for illegal aliens to cross the border with children to evade arrest by authorities. Others have noted the legislation makes no distinction between migrant children at the border and U.S. citizen children already within the United States.

Hopefully, it doesn't stand a chance but it's worth noting that every senate democrat has signed on as a co-sponsor of the bill.
