Hopefully, and well deserved so. All that egomaniacal babble about "the American Dream", "Beacon to the world" etc. etc. was a fata morgana at the expense of other countries anyway.
I recommend stocking up on popcorn, because when their glorious, parasitic system and oppression of the world finally croaks, there will be alot of dirty laundry exposed, things that to this day are loathed and ridiculed as "conspiracy theories".
Karma is a bitch indeed.

Come on chaps. My family and I get to the USA almost every year on vacation. No matter what you say it will always be better than the sh1t hole that is my home town.

The Americans that we meet are polite and interested in the UK, but most of them dont realise we have the pound and not the Euro. but they do know about Her Madge etc

Ok, so they tend to still believe in Xstianity, God, the toothfairy, Aliens but they are hard working and harmless enough. At least every Americn I have met no matter what their racial background has bought into the dream, I dont see that in my local town of fatwah in the hills

Dont mix up American people with America Government. Dont mix up American government with the ones that really hold the reigns of power, the ones that we dont see.

Lets not turn this thread into a USA bashing excercise......

True enough the USA has been the world power for a long time and garnered all the bad press, when China takes over these will seem like idyllic times.

Plus as an Englishman I can almost understand American, where as my Chinese is woefully inadequate, and I hate subtitles

I won't deny that the USA has its problems. But it isn't anywhere near as bad as people (including many Americans) make it out to be. I have traveled all over the world and I love Europe and I am fascinated with Asia but I wouldn't choose anywhere else in the world to live.

Of course you would expect me to say that.

Going to the moon would cost billions of $$. Why would anyone build a house there? I love the idea of space travel, have done since I was a kid. But i'd rather those $$$ were spent looking after planet Earth. Stop all these phony wars and start to care for each other. Sadly a pipe dream
If we humans all worked together we would have explored space a lot more. Sadly the real objective of the space race was to dominate Earth.

Why not another flight to the moon ? this time with the object of
erecting the very first building on the moon.... a house, an office.. whatever.

It might need two space ships... one to carry the 3 man crew and one to carry the building materials. Another innovation could be the astranauts riding on electric motorbikes.
A date could be announced for the simultanious take off .... two rockets blasting off together...... and there would be high excitement and anticipation as the flight progressed.
With the progress and success of this audacious space mission America's prestige would once more be sky high... its Universities, Science and Industry once more proving that America has the know how and innovation to carry out such a mission and once again, the Russians would look on enviously from the sidelines.......
American Presidential Hopeful Newt Ginrich shares your sentiment.

A colony on the moon? Republican Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich floated the idea before a massive audience on Florida's space coast. Thousands lost jobs there when the space shuttle quit flying, so what he told them was music to their ears -- the promise of jobs once again, another space race.
