I'd like to take credit, but it's actually all that vodka in the blood. Kills 'em quicker than Mortein

Actually, all we had was VB and some Belgian beer I'd never heard of. And some NZ wine. But his garage was full of it

There was a great offer of Scotch Whisky at the airport, and I bought the allowed 2 bottles, thinking I'd keep one for myself. But when I saw how generous he was it took me 10 seconds to give him both

With the Wentworth bye election rapidly approaching tomorrow, SloMo has lost his website

With a one seat majority in the lower house, it's not looking good.

I'm hoping he winds up down here where their multi-million dollar cuts to the health system have resulted in a two year waiting period at hospitals.

...

I think they could stagger along to the next election with a minority.

Turnbull probably knew there was a chance they would be embarrassed by the result.
The issue I have with him is that he couldn't even hang around for the next six months- or less. As a result we have to pay the cost of the by-election which of course runs into millions.

In some countries an MP resigning like this must pay the cost of the by-election. I suspect they may not have that many examples.

It is not just the Tories that do it either. I remember Carr did the same thing having just been elected to the Senate, in an election Labor lost.

I remember we used to have mosquito nets on the beds when we visited our grandparents in Brisbane, which was quite fun. Never used to get many on the farm, which was a long way inland and quite high up. Lots of mossies in the coastal areas though, particularly in warmer regions. Mossies are bad news.

I don't think there are nets any more, most places have fly screens which keeps most of them out. Only thing is, my place doesn't have fly screens.

You would love New Jersey which reputedly has two kinds of mosquitoes. There are the little ones who can squeeze through the screens and the big ones that simply kick holes in them.

Am I the only one to have been bothered by March Flies?

I remember in the seventies working in the bush near Zeehan (Tas) and getting so p'd off I was swiping at 'em with a running chainsaw. As I was using the saw at the time they had open slather as my hands were occupied. It was too hot for a shirt.

My first experience was as a boy in a coastal town. They must have eradicated them as they are just a distant irritating memory now.

The joys of Oz!!

Mossies, flies, venomous snakes, spiders of doom!

And I got pissed off when a lone wasp attacked my beer in July.

I did see a ladybird/bug about this time two weeks ago.

My cat ate it.

During this summer, my apartment became a favorite destination of a couple hornets. They'd fly in almost daily but would leave soon after they realized there's no chow for them. That's as dangerous as it gets here with these beasts.
