There's just one deadly alien predator here but that's all it needs
It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051786/ After disaster strikes the first ship to land on Mars a second ship is sent to rescue the sole survivor. When they find a bullet hole in the skull of one of the crew they suspect the survivor Col. Edward Carruthers (Marshall Thompson) killed them to make the supplies last longer. They take off back to Earth not knowing that they have a deadly stowaway, an alien intent on killing them all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZHrCkEmgFo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtb6JGH1gZo&t The film that inspired Alien, a 50's classic even if it does have idiots firing guns and letting off grenades in a space ship

I watched the Benedict Cumberbatch HBO drama - Brexit: The Uncivil War (2019) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brexit:_The_Uncivil_War I was going to say that the movie was more informative about data analysis and how they affected the campaigns, but this article I just read seems to dispute what was portrayed in the film. https://reason.com/archives/2019/01/...ilm-gets-wrong
The movie did imply - at least to me - that Trump utilized the same type of analysis/campaign direction in his win - concentrating not on his supporters - but on the undecided - in the areas that would decide the election. However now I am unsure if I was just watching propaganda or not. Anyway, worth watching just to get a feel for what campaigns are about - with the warning you may be getting played. |

GLASS
NO SPOILERS......NO SPOILERS Has a psychiatrist made the biggest mistake by bringing together the heroic David Dunn, the brilliant but sinister Mr.Glass, and the Multi Personality Beast all in one place? PRAISE: Displaying the loving bond between David (Bruce Willis) and his son Joseph (Spencer Treat Clark) that was established in Unbreakable (2000) was great. These days it's not easy getting a fully engaged Willis acting performance and Director M. Night Shyamalan at least gets a few sparks from him. James McAvoy continues to impress and once again brilliantly displaying the multiple personalities of the Beast with so much ease he steals the movie. When Samuel L Jackson is finally given time to shine he makes the best of it. Anya Taylor-Joy returns as Casey Cooke turning in a good performance as one of the Beast's victims who thinks The Beast is some kind of kindred spirit she can rescue from the murderous side of his personalities. As Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson), a psychiatrist trying to defuse the trio of their thoughts that they are superior super humans. Shyamalan weaves in some good visuals, nods to comic books and modern comic book films. Some scenes were so effective they made me wince. I was fully on board for a good portion of the film which was highly entertaining. PROBLEMS: Things start to come apart in the third act .It's as if it was rushed and Shyamalan forgot to tighten things up with the pacing .Not only making some of it uneven but with plot holes woven in that i couldnt ignore. The double ...or maybe it was a triple(?) twist ending had some good points but i think Shyamalan was trying to bring his story to a full circle but lost some his punch in doing so. Not a bad movie by any means but i guess my expectations were so high after SPLIT i was a bit let down by this third film in this series. Scale of 1-10 a 7½ |

I watched thor ragnarok and avengers infinity war back to back with my kiddo. They were really good, I'm not a huge fan of Disney's mcu (I'm an xmen and wolverine fan) but it was done pretty well. I really liked thor, that film was very funny and had some awesome combat scenes in it.

Bad Times At The El Royale
Strange but entertaining movie, with what I would rate as an OUTSTANDING soundtrack. |

I watched "Along Came a Spider" (2001) - A Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross movie. Kidnapping film. I thought it was pretty good, so much that I won't talk about the plot to spoil it for people.
The critics were less kind, complaining about things I didn't notice. Perhaps I was wishing Monica Potter would take off her clothes and not paying enough attention. Anyway - 3.5 of 5 from me. Roger Ebert only gave it 2 of 4. It did make me feel old as Anton Yelchin played a little kid and I remember him as Chekov on the new Star Trek - who died in an accident. |
