With the rule now being that, on a missed FG, possession changes at the point of the FG attempt... teams will want to take the ball at that point... If you attempt to run it back out of your own endzone, you run the risk of being pinned back deep in your own end.

I would think they would put someone out there everytime there is a long field goal attempt of more than 50 yards, BEFORE the rule change.
All these new rules turning NFL football into flag football for pussies. |

Is someone going to bravely step into the void left by tygrkhat40 and run the football pool?

It appears we will not be playing this season. It also appears that Steve Sarkisian learned nothing from last season and will continue to cripple the Atlanta Falcons offense. I have a theory that defensively oriented head coaches are uncomfortable with offensive football and consciously or unconsciously suppress their teams' offenses. We find the occasional greats like Tom Landry or Bill Belichick, but for the most part, defensive coordinators turned head coaches are unsuccessful because they kill aggression in their offense. Notice that Dan Quinn has recreated a powerful, Seahawks style defense, but now that Kyle Shanahan is in San Francisco the Falcons stellar offensive talent is going to waste. |

Idk how you guys did that. The only time I've ever gone through a whole year of tipping competition, was 22 years ago amongst friends at high school for Australian football.

It's just a few lightnings! They are wearing all that plastic protection and a helmet too made with plastic and foam padding. They are also all well grounded. Furthermore, your odds of being struck by lightning in a year are 1 in 960,000. In your lifetime those odds drop to about 1 in 12,000. Your odds of being struck by lightning twice in your lifetime are 1 in 9 million. Did they clear the stadium of all those 65,000 people? It makes no sense to suspend the game and send both teams and their staff to the locker room while the fans are still sitting in the stands and are still at risk of being hit by a lightning. |

From the pictures, many of the spectators had gone home or taken cover. I will bet they kept the concessions open and had an emergency beer delivery. |
