I'm not that petty over the SB. I forgot it was him with the FF. As for the thanks, I don't take it seriously anyway. After all, vic (and trailmaster) likes all my posts in threads he's a contributor on (as a result, I know he's someone who's not interested in F1/motorsport). But as brilliant as some of my posts are...I don't think he necessarily genuinely likes them and does it out of courtesy. I appreciate that from vic.
Vrabel is a cheap shot talentless thug in amongst an army of cheap shot talentless thugs, which is what the early 2000s Patriots defence were, excluding Ty Law. It's often forgotten because Belichick and Brady are the common figures from the recent Patriots. But the defence contributed to the Patriots lack of popularity. |

While most you you will probably at least be keeping track of the score of the Vikings-Eagles game, I'll be at the SDCC (I still call it Qualcomm) stadium here in San Diego to watch the US Women's National soccer team play. My niece got me at ticket at field level (on the field, not in the stands) - I get to watch Julie Ertz (nee Johnston) play while her husband Zach is playing for Philadelphia. Go Eagles!
SI isn't dumb, they know to put Julie in front... |

How the hell did the f'n Patriots win this game? Note to Jags: You cannot afford to let up on the Patriots or do anything resembling pass interference even slightly in Foxborough.
There is another opening on the Patriots cheerleader squad. Drink up, ultimatewarlord |

The problem was the limitation in the Jags playcalls. Whereas the Pats threatened to go deep to free up the underneath, the Jags settled for underneath all day and the Pats adjusted in time. I got annoyed at the Pats keep trying to run Lewis. The situation called for James White to either come out into the flat or stay in and block. The Jags D-Line were well held by the Pats O-Line after a shaky start. Gutted for Doug Marrone of course but it was the worse of the two scenarios for me because no matter how many times you get there, last year is always last year. Great as Gilmore's tip was it still pales in comparison to Sterling Moore knocking the TD out in the Ravens game. If the Vikes get to the Super Bowl I'm going to be hellishly conflicted.

It looked a couple of times in that game as if the Patriots were dead in the water. Then, big plays and penalties gave them new life. One more team that found out the hard way that you have to put the great ones away when you have the chance. The Bradys, Montanas, Rodgers, and Staubachs of the world can and do put 2 TDs on the board in 5 minutes if you get careless. |

I'm sure that the Jags having 10 times the penalty yards as the pats was utter coincidence. One penalty on the pats, the whole game. I'm thinking I'm done with the NFL. At least with Big time wrestling they make no bones about it being scripted. |

Those pass interference calls were very obvious. The Jags actually got away with a couple that weren't called. If you recall, the Jags defense lost its cool in San Francisco and hurt themselves with several silly fouls.
Watch out for the Jags next year. They should have won this one but costs themselves with the type of mistakes the Patriots just don't make. Not much drama in the Eagles win. Foles made some beautiful throws. That 57 yard third down TD pass was a thing of beauty. |

I thanked posts and don't care if this post isn't thanked.
NE do what NE do. But Jacksonville should've be kicking themselves the didn't win that. They just did not play with any authority in the 4th. Having been as great as they were til that point, they wasted all their good work. On the other hand. That was a stunning performance from Philadelphia. Having not seen many of their games, I was watching wondering if that game could transfer against a stronger team. Imo, absolutely it can. It's been a while since we've seen a repeat SB match up. |

On paper the teams are very evenly matched. I would think that the Eagles will be more vulnerable to the hype and distraction. Belichick drills his teams on being focused on the task at hand and seems to select players with that in mind. The betting public was impressed by the Eagles blowout. I am leaning towards Belichick and Brady, but don't know that they can survive falling far behind the Eagles. |
