What is the meaning of life?

There are many possible avenues to go down here; religion, spirituality, a higher power, are the answers within or is it something much more simplistic such as sex drugs and rock and roll? Is it women, food, beer; or could it be girl sandwiches marinated in booze? What does make the world go round, the sun to rise and set? Is it sport, TV, movies? Your family,perhaps. Maybe I'm way off the mark; personally I think it's Eliza Dushkus' smile but hey, that's just me. Give us your thoughts. Help me to answer the unaswerable.

I've come to think that the meaning of life is a void which we fill with different answers, actions, beliefs throughout our lifetime, none of them being entirely satisfactory.
So I guess I prefer to ask myself: what does it mean to be alive?

There is no meaning. Enjoy every second. Do what you want to do. Because time waits for no one. This world today is devoid of meaning, we should focus on bringing that back.

who said that there is a meaning to life? maybe we have to try and find one becouse we know we are here for a short period of time. Being aware of our own mortality is truly frightnening when you really think about it. ps i've got a killer hangover!

The question is not what the meaning of life is, the question is WHY do you ask such a question.

Animals do not ask for a meaning of life. And if I watch them, I would say life has no higher meaning; but life makes sense under the given circumstances. Only humans with the awareness of themselves ask these questions. So the real question is why a higher conscousness should have a higher meaning. The only answer to this question that makes sense to me, is that nature by blind testing all possiblities found by a lucky chance a way to recognize its own beauty.
