This is not really correct in several ways. First both the US and the Soviet Union used German rocket scientists to kickstart their space programs.

Secondly, the US has plenty of boosters for launching space missions and are far more active in solar system exploration and astrophysics than Russia. What the US currently does not have is a man-rated booster for launching their own manned missions. With the progress being made by NASA on the SLS, plus SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Boeing, this will change in the near future.

Umm, If I lived in Australia, I'd just happy there are US facilities here

Thanks Maurice. Russia seriously prefers co-operation, and has deep contempt for "exceptionalism" in whatever form

A country that spells "defence" with a "c" can't be too bad a place.

HAPPY ELECTION DAY!

I don't know about any of you. But I like these days, regardless of the result. When I was I kid. I'd naturally think election coverage were boring. But not as a adult. I can be glued to it nowadays. In fact, since we've gone digital. I even like watching ABC's coverage of state elections that are not Victorian.

Seeing Antony Green is like seeing an old friend. However, matters are complicated tonight. Carlton is playing Collingwood at the same time. So depending on how the game goes, will depend on the how much I watch of watch. Having said that, I liked listening to the ABC radio coverage of the 2014 Victorian state election, and will probably listen to that instead.

I have to say I hate going to polling to get shoved How to Vote papers by people I wouldn't be caught dead with. I will get arrested there one day for belting someone, I'm sure. Much prefer shouting obscenities at the TV at the likes of Morrison and Abbott (Tony "...Have you actually read the document? ...Ahhh--NNOOOooo!!!" Abbott). I will have to find someone more worthy of putting shit on and that's hard, believe me.

Two hours in to the counting and I'm not paying all that much attention but it does look extremely tight.
