If I lived in Chicago, I'd avoid anyone who had a second job as a clown.. and a house with a crawlspace.

My home town - I don't live there anymore but it will always be home. I visit as often as I can. Despite the fact that the weather can be iffy at times it has amazing food, friendly people, spectacular museums, a world-class symphony, great universities and hospitals and I could go on and on. Famous Chicagoans have made lasting contributions to physics, medicine, architecture, economics, mathematics and the arts. You name it we've done it.

I love Chicago. Great museums, awesome food, teams in the four major sports, an incredible music scene, all in all a terrific place. Then again, I live in Buffalo, so I know the highlights of visiting Chi-town. The lowlights that I get from the news include a high crime rate, state government cutting services and many of the other problems of 21st Century urban living.
I find Buffalo and Chicago to be similar in many ways. Ethnically, the cities are very alike; large Polish, Italian and Irish populations with growing numbers of Hispanics and Asians. Given that ethnic background, the foods of the two cities are similar as well. The biggest difference between Buffalo and Chicago is the size. Buffalo is about 44 square miles, while Chicago is about 250. As far as the weather goes, right now outside my window, it's 1F. And on the whole, Buffalo is a windier city than Chicago. True, Chicago does get its snow, but we invented the term "lake-effect snow." So, what if I lived in Chicago? It wouldn't be that much different than living in Buffalo.

Hi guys. I have lived in Chicago most of my life. When I was younger it was a great city, but that's because we had a great mayor and things got done. Now 55 years later it seems as if everybody and everything is crooked or bad. There are no more gangsters, but plenty of neighborhood gangs, hookers, armed robbers, pedophiles, rapists, car thieves, vandals, panhandlers and con artists dressed to look like homeless people just trying to get your money. Many of what used to be great Chicago neighborhoods have become slums with empty storefronts and boarded up houses and apartment buildings. Chicago has very cold and snowy winters, mild springs and sometimes hot and humid or hot and dry summers. It is true that Chicago has many fine museums. There is a lot to do in the downtown area, and there are many nightclubs, great ethnic dining establishments, great bars and many other things mostly for the tourists and suburban people who come into the city for the weekends. But I don't like what has become of my hometown. It has now got a lot of bad reputations. It is the bedbug capital of America. There are almost 800 murders every year. The southside where I live has the ten worst neighborhoods in the city. Chicago has the reputation of having the most crooked apartment management companies in America. Now Chicago is a good place to visit, but If I came from somewhere else I wouldn't want to live in Chicago.

Everything trailmaster said is right on the money.I like vintage Chicago, just like I like my porn! Current city & a lot of the close by areas are crime central.
