Le Monde saw only "moderate enthusiasm" from those who had gathered, in an atmosphere that "seemed a far cry from the fervour of the campaign."

Brazil's Estado de S Paulo newspaper called the inaugural address "aggressive", while left-wing Argentine newspaper Pagina 12 focussed on the new president's government, which it called a "cabinet of racists, financiers, fundamentalists, warriors and anti-workers".

Cuba's Prensa Latina news agency offered only cursory coverage of the ceremony, with emphasis on the "numerous protests" taking place around Washington.

Similarly, Iran's hardline daily Javan newspaper led its coverage with reports on protests, which it used to predict a "volatile" term in office.

On the website of Israel's conservative daily Yisrael Hayom, Boaz Bismuth called the ceremony "a celebration of US democracy" which "symbolises the success of the US constitution".

Not really suprised at most of the responses (didn't think Cuba and Iran would have a good word for the Donald anyway...)
Some German fascist said this:
"In domestic policy, the Trump agenda sounds like a blueprint for civil war; in foreign policy, it sounds like the dawn of a new ice age."
and
"With four ex-presidents sitting a few feet behind him, the 45th president delivered a populist manifesto. "

Lord knows them folk hate the people, er I mean "populists", and having a leader actually deliver what the people who voted for him want, well, it's enough to get any fascist's panties in a knot.

Personally, I hope he pulls every single US base out of Europe, maybe leave one in the UK, dependent upon a swift, hard Brexit.

Default McDoanalds

I wouldn't bee too alarmed. This McDonald's auto outlet has been rumored to be ready for at least four years. I haven't been to Chez Jack much recently, but on my last visit, I didn't see a kiosk. It may be that robo kitchens can't deal well with special requests. Or that customers prefer dealing with human beings. But self driving trucks for long distance hauling will soon be here.

It is really rough trying to get by on minimum wage jobs. But the fact of the matter is that fast food workers can't be paid $50,000 a year for a forty hour week along with health insurance and paid vacations. The profit margins just aren't there. Many assembly line jobs are better done by robots. Many accounting clerk jobs have been eliminated by enterprise software programs. We really do need to find new ways to create jobs and generate wealth. Too many liberal arts, graphic design, and psychology majors are working at Starbucks.

I don't recall any referenda or plebescites concerning $15.00 minimum wages.

Nobody is forcing them to work there.

Again, look how well your ideas worked in all the commie "worker's paradises".

The people voted those ciity concil members into office and when the wage issue is put in front of the voters they do well. If you frame it as a taxpayer/corporation issue as opposed to simply a mangement/labor issue you can see why.(why my tax dollars going to pay for your workers. I have not had a Big Mac in years...)

Yeah but someone is forcing the taxpayer to make up the difference when wages don't measure up.

Amazon is hiring more people, so I guess that translates into more brick and mortar stores closing and potentially lower commercial property values.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-am...-idUSKBN14W21G

So we lose more crappy retail jobs and get some crappy warehouse jobs instead, until the robots replace them. I do feel sorry for the young uneducated people in this country.

Here in the Bay Area all the fast food places, Targets, and Walmarts are begging people to work for them. They aren't paying minimum wage either. It is frustrating that my hands are screwed up. I could use some extra cash. I would much rather be able to pay for Kaiser than try to get medical care from the county.

I am always reminded of the perennial joke in communist countries. "It's the workers' paradise. They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work."

Donald Trump needs to figure out that the press is always unfair to the president. Having been elected by a minority of the voters, protests and demonstrations come with the territory. He needs to ignore the flack and get to work. If life gets better for most folks, the tune will change. If it gets worse and the Republicans screw with women and seniors, the opposition and protests will increase.

It is not really fair that he is not being given a chance to show what he can do. It can be argued that his campaign generated significant and vocal opposition. Women didn't turn out and vote to protect their interests, but trying to get women to take responsibility for their actions is a losing battle. Any man who's been married can tell you that.

I still marvel that more white women voted for Trump then for Hillary.

I guess its like that comment I heard repeatedly at work, a woman's worst enemy on the job is another woman.

Just shows you how bad a canindate Hillary was. This is why I cannot buy any of the "isms" arguments from her. Could Obama cry racism if he could not carry the black male Vote? She employed a strategy failed to produce the turnout needed to be sucessful.
